Alright, so tomorrow at 12pm EST the UFA frenzy will begin

So, who are your top 5 UFA's, that you'd like your favourite(s) team to sign?

1) Scott Niedermayer- Defending the Norris trophy, this guy is definately the best player out there. The leafs could certainly use him, but chances are he'll be too rich for our blood unless he wants to come here for way under market price.

2) Glen Murray - I think this guy is the sleeper of the free agents. We don't hear much about this guy, but he's a 30-40 goal scorer who has a ton of grit. He likes Toronto, and Toronto could certainly use him.

3) Petr Forsberg - What can I say, when this guy is healthy he's the best in the world, but his inability to stay healthy could hurt his stock.

4) Adam Foote - Rock solid defencemen who doesn't take any sh!t. An outstanding leader and is possibly the grittiest player in the NHL. The leafs have been looking for a defencemen like this for years. Foote likes Toronto and it would be an excellent fit.

5) Jason Allison - When healthy he could put up 90 points for you. He'll probably come at an extremely low price with bonuses latched on. This would be a perfect fit in Toronto aswell.

IMO, the most likely guys to go to Toronto are Murray, Foote, and Allison(or Lindros).

1) Forsberg - Best player in the NHL. Hands down. Not even close. He plays a full season and Dvorak and Smyth could easily combine for 90 goals.
2) Demitra - Slick skater who'd answer all of our PP woes and more. Would help to develop guys like Hemsky and Schremp.
3) Niedermayer - Arguably the best skater in the NHL, plays the game well and would be a godsend for the PP, PK and would make Brewer look even better.
4) Foote - Remember Foote and Brewer at the WC? 'nuff said.
5) Palffy - While he's not a C, I beleive he's the second best forward available in the UFA crop after Forsberg, and would be a welcome addition to the Oilers.. I can live with Horcoff and York up the middle if it means the wingers consist of Palffy, Smyth, Hemsky and Dvorak!

Canucks

1) Naslund. This is huge. He is our captain, and has been the most dominant LW over the past few seasons. Its a no brainer

2) Satan. He is a pure goal scorer, and would fit well with the twins. Plus, he is excellent in the playoffs

3) Aucoin. This guy was my fav Canuck, and I'd love the Canucks to welcome him back. He is solid, all around.

4) Niedermayer. Would be solid as a canuck, but I don't think he will sign here

5) Gelinas. Classic character player, would be great, just for Calgary's sake

Habs

1) Kovalev. He played well in the playoffs, and brings goals..something the Habs need badly

2) Aucoin. A big, solid defender. Would be great back there, especially with Souray

3) Hamrlik. Another big, solid defender. Would play well on the Habs

4) Satan. If the Habs cannot sign Kovalev, he is the 2nd best option.

5) Lapointe/Gelinas. Either of these guys would bring grit, and leadership. Plus they are both french canadien

Since I think Stevens and Rafalski will be returning to the Devils:

1. Scott Niedermayer - He's most likely going elsewhere, but he's not going to be an easy guy to replace. One of the best skaters in the game, and with things opening up, he should be even better.

2. Pavol Demitra - Versatile, can play pretty much all three forward positions, would give the Devils another good scoring threat along with Patrik Elias.

3. Adam Foote - Since Niedermayer is probably unlikely, Foote would be a good replacement. He could also help fill the leadership void when Stevens retires.

4. Glen Murray - With the Devils being a bit short on scorers, adding Murray would be a big help. He probably wouldn't cost too much, and would be a solid addition.

5. Adam Deadmarsh - Obviously has had some injury issues the past few years, but he's got decent size, can score, and plays a physical game, all three of which the Devils need up front.

Agreed on Deadmarsh

But, is he ready, or even cleared to play..? I haven't heard anything in a year. But with Allison you have heard a lot.

Thats a big reason I left him off my list

1) Adam Foote - He may not be as sought after as Niedermayer, but Foote fills a need that the Leafs have had for years. He's big, tough, and physical. He'll be able to clear the front of the net, and would be a very good partner for Tomas Kaberle.

2) Jason Allison - The Leafs need a second line center, and with his recent injury problems the Leafs might be able to sign him at a one year cap friendly deal. Hopefully it works out well, and then he'll probably jump ship at the end of the year trying to get big money.

3) Sergei Gonchar - Not quite what we need, but he's the best offensive dman in the game, and would bring some much needed speed to the Leafs lineup. With the new rules he could put up even higher point totals, and his signing could open the door for a Bryan McCabe trade to fill another organizational need.

4) Miroslav Satan - He'd add some much needed speed and skill to the Leaf roster. On top of that we'd be signing a guy from those hated Sabres  Plus, at the age of 30 he'd be considerably younger than the usual Leaf UFA signings :thumb:

5) Martin Gelinas - He'd be a nice addition on the third line with Stajan and Tucker. If the price isn't too bad I think he'd be a worthwhile signing for the Leafs. From the few Calgary games I saw last year he seemed to work hard and skate well enough.

Monday 11:59 a.m. Here we go. Should be an orgy of lowball signings? Players signing for a pittance with the best team they can find. For a lot of the players.... this the end. Time to brush up the resume to flip burgers. I've been looking forward to this.

I'm surprised.

No one on the major networks is talking about Aucoin, or Hamrlik..as UFA's

Both could end up being steals

ESPN is tracking all NHL transactions. Sortable by date and team.

I don't know how often they will update it though.

The leafs made a trio of signings. Foote, Allison and Murray are all on their way to Toronto. Unfortunately, I cannot provide a source. Sorry for any inconveniences.

So, who's heart went up their throat when reading the first part of this post?
