TAMPA, Fla. (CP) - General manager Jay Feaster and head coach John Tortorella have signed long-term contract extensions to remain with the defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning.

Feaster is now signed through the 2010-11 season while Tortorella is committed through 2008-09. Team president Ron Campbell approached ownership about signing the two to extensions.

"When Ron approached us to discuss these extensions our answer was certainly to do the right thing," owner Bill Davidson said in a statement. "Jay and John have done great work for us and we have a lot of trust in both of them and their team-first philosophy. In light of the new CBA, it was important to solidify the key management who will allow us to retain and attract the best talent for continued on-ice success in the future."

Tortorella's previous deal was slated to expire next summer while Feaster had an option for 2006-07.

"From the first day John Tortorella joined this organization he came in preaching `team concept' and team first,"' Feaster said. "It was that steadfast commitment to team and to doing things `the right way' that enabled us to become Stanley Cup champions. John and I share a vision of the Tampa Bay way and a commitment to doing everything possible to put our team and our players in a position to win and to enjoy playing the game."
