Naslund likes Vancouver, says GM

Canucks general manager Dave Nonis is confident he can sign Markus Naslund to a "fair" contract, reports the Vancouver Province. While the Canucks have not yet made an offer to Naslund, Nonis believes the unrestricted free agent wants to play in the NHL this season rather than in Sweden.
"We'd like to sign him and we're going to make him an offer I believe everyone will think is fair," Nonis told the Province. "It's our intention and expectation to have him back in the lineup."
Naslund was fourth in scoring in 2003-04 and is one of the best left-wingers in the league. "The problem is, there are 29 other teams that want Markus as well," Nonis said.
"I know Markus well ... and I think Markus likes Vancouver and I think he really likes this team."
Meanwhile, according to the Edmonton Oilers, citing a report in a Swedish paper, Avalanche free agent Peter Forsberg wants to play with Naslund this season, and may consider a deal similar to what Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne did with Colorado in 2003-04.
It's uncertain whether or not the two would play in Vancouver, Colorado or somewhere else.
