Dallas Stars' center Pierre Turgeon and Phoenix Coyotes' winger Brian Savage appear to be the next buy-out victims of the summer, TFP has learned. An official announcement by both teams could happen as early as Monday.
Turgeon, 35, was slated to earn $4.56 million this season, after the 24-percent rollback, but will receive $3.04 million from the Stars after being bought-out. In 1,215 career NHL games with Dallas, Buffalo, Montreal, St. Louis and the New York Islanders, Turgeon has accumulated 495 goals and 779 assists for 1,274 total career points.
The four-time All-Star was originally drafted first-overall by the Sabres in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. Savage, 34, was set to make $2.85 million this season and will receive two-thirds of that ($1.9 million) from the Coyotes.
In 608 career games with the Coyotes, Blues and Canadiens, Savage has registered 183 goals, 162 assists and 345 penalty minutes.
