The Official HS Hockey Pool: Rules and Regulations
Format:
The Format of the pool is simple, each participant will pick 3 teams before the Sunday deadline, which will be the deadline for the entire season. From the beginning of the week(Monday) to the end of the week(Sunday), your teams will play their games and depending on how they do will decide how many points you receive for the week. The amount of games that team plays in that week is not limited or ?capped? so if your team plays 5 times that week, all 5 games will be counted. Likewise if you decide to pick a team that plays twice in the 7-day span, the two games will be the only ones counted.
Scoring:
For every Win in Regulation and in the 4 on 4 OT you will be awarded a total of 2 points.
For every Win in a Shootout you will be awarded a total of 1 point
For every Loss in Regulation, 4 on 4 OT and a Shootout you will be awarded a total of 0 points
Standings:
In the standings you will notice 3 columns: The 1st will be the Win column in which you are awarded 2 points, the 2nd will be the Loss column in which you are awarded 0 points, and the 3rd will be the Win column in which you are awarded 1 point. (I.E. if after the first week you won 5 regulation/OT games, won 2 shootouts and lost 3 times the standings will look like this:
5-3-2 = 12 points
Deadlines:
If you are unable to make your picks on time, you will be disqualified for the week and will not receive any points. You are to post your weekly selections in the thread that will be created specifically for making them and you will have up until the 12:00 EST deadline to make any changes. If you will be away from the computer for a week or so, you will be permitted to PM your picks directly to me and I will make sure they are used for that week.
Eliminations:
Yes folks, there will be Eliminations in this pool, but do not fear, because depending on the # of participants who will be taking part in the pool, will determine the date of the first elimination and I will give at least 2 weeks notice before the first elimination happens. The way someone gets Eliminated will be based on the number of points that they have at the Elimination date and if they are at the bottom of the standings they will be Eliminated. There will be Eliminations up until we reach 3 participants at which point the points will double and it will be a sprint to the finish.
Grand Prize:
The winner of this pool will be awarded a custom user title to put beside their name, and they will also be awarded a notice showing their victory to either go beside their avatar or in their very own thread, winner?s choice ;) And let?s not forget the bragging rights over all the others.
That?s it that?s all guys, I would like to have an official participants list before Sept. 23rd so that will be the final date to announce your participation. I may extend that date to accommodate new members, but that may not happen so Sept 23rd is the date you should try to get it in by. I will now open the forum up to announce your participation and I wish you all good luck. And if there is anything you do not understand or need clarifying feel free to drop me a line ;)

So with the 20 Participants we will be having 17 eliminations, which will leave us with 3 players who will be fighting for the championship at the end of 25 weeks. The eliminations will take place after the Saturday games of that week so for example with week #8 being the first elimination, the elimination will take place after the games on Saturday Dec. 3rd. So here are the dates of the eliminations:
Week 1(Oct. 10th-Oct. 16th) - No Eliminations
Week 2(Oct. 17th-Oct. 23rd) - No Eliminations
Week 3(Oct. 24th-Oct. 30th) - No Eliminations

I make most of my posts during the hours I'm supposed to be working.
On weekends, I tend to stay as far away from the computer as possible.

Absolutely, remember Sunday is only the deadline for picks therefore any later and they cannot be counted. Your picks can be submitted any day between Monday and Sunday for the following week so if you wanted to send them in on Friday, Thursday or wait until Sunday night, it is all within the rules. :thumb:

So every week, all we have to do is pick the three teams we think will do the best....and everybody can pick the same teams(not that this will happen), its not like if manager A takes Philly, Boston and Tampa, I cant take Philly, Boston and Detroit? (just an example)

I've got to say I am very pleased with the great turnout of the pool and I think it'll be a lot of fun, on a side note, I will be putting out the elimination dates as soon as the deadline for participation ends.

Glad you like, it'll be one of those pools where you actually have to earn your win ;)
Week 1 picks and all picks for that matter will be submitted in a forum which will be created specifically for making picks. You will see it soon and as soon as it's there, you can make your picks.

I guess since there was confusion, we'll still accept your picks for the week, just note that any games that have already been played or are in progress will not be accepted. So hurry up and get them in before the night games :thumb:
