Timander, Ragnarsson staying in Sweden
TheFourthPeriod.com
You can expect to see the Philadelphia Flyers in the market for some defensemen this August, as both Marcus Ragnarsson and Mattias Timander will not be with the club for the 2005-06 season, TFP has learned. Ragnarsson and Timander will be playing in Sweden next season and won't be returning to the Flyers.
"We need a defenseman," Flyers GM Bob Clarke said. "Ragnarsson and Timander are staying back in Sweden." The Flyers will also try to convince blueliner Vladimir Malakhov to return. The 36-year-old is an unrestricted free agent and may opt to stay in Russia next season.
"We're going to talk to Malakhov," Clarke said. "We have spoken with him and we're going to speak again and see if he wants to come back. That would help us if he did."
Sue, you're the only Flyer fan here so far, was this expected or un-expected?
