I've just been looking over the Canucks draft history and the picture isn't exactly rosy. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/teams/dr000039.html

Is Nonis really going to make a difference or is he really mini Burke and it will be the same old crappy job of drafting?

The Nucks should be able to grab a goalie with their pick... Price would be the obvious choice. While I'm not a big fan of drafting for a need, if he's available at #10 he would be the BPA and you can never have to many goalie prospects. Situations like the one seen in Buffalo are pretty rare, and goalies more often than not flop.

If Price is taken before the 'Nucks draft, I think they'd be wise to trade down to ~20, pick up another second rounder and grab Rask.

Drafting hasn't been great for Vancouver

But, it is improving. Look at recent ones, Schneider, and Kesler for example. Both look pretty solid. Not spectacular, but decent players.

I think they should possibly try and move up in the draft. They could try for Chicagos pick.

J. Ruttu has been on the Hawks radar for sometime, so they may be interested in a deal involving him.

Canucks could even go higher, and hand B.Allen over to Carolina, or Columbus.

Who knows.

But I would like the Canucks to get someone, who is tough, gritty, and can score. Perhaps not Brule, since he has mentioned he wouldn't like the pressure here.

When it comes right down to it the draft is a crapshoot. Vancouver hasn't gotten very lucky. Maybe they will this year if their result in the lottery is any indication.

Yup. You can say everything you want, but for the most part drafting "top end" talent is pure luck. Detroit's hit the jackpot twice with Datsyuk and Zetterberg for example. Unless the NHL ever moves the draft age up (Which it looks like they can't for the time being due to legal issue's) to say 20, there'll be no certainties in drafting when the players you're drafting aren't even fully grown yet!

No, Bertuzzi was a common name in the Sudbury area when I lived there, but this guy's bio said he was born in Vancouver, and he played in the WHL.
