Vince Carter.

Raptors treated him as if he were a demigod. they built the team around this man, they hired and fired coaches for him, they got specific PLAYERS for him. They gave him a buttload of money - and then they decided to incoporate him in decisions in the front office.

And ask a merci beaucoup, what does he do?

Everytime he gets a hangnail, you think someone snippered him down.

As "captain" he never motivated the team to its true potentional (or - as someone close to me once said, as crappy as the Raptors are, he did AOK in that regard)

He demands to be traded - and he plays worse than he has ever.

then, he moves to NJ - and turns it on,and admits he never really tried his best.

After all of that, people FINALLY start hating on this guy. But why after ALL that crap? People hate Mats Sundin, hated Delgado, and these two guys brought it all the time. Carter had to admit that he wasn't really the bees knees, and that started the hate on.

Now, a serious question: is Carter really worth being hated on? Was he a victim off circumstance, or was he just the biggest suck ever?

My bees knees say that Carter developed a huge ego with all the praise heaped on him and he didn't have to try to hard because everyone loved him.

When he went to New Jersey, he knew he was going to have to turn it up a few notches because he wasn't the only star there.

Carter can take a flying leap at a rolling doughnut. I didn't like him in Toronto and don't like him in New Jersey.

The Raptors have a good young team, I hope they can clean up their trading and drafting habits and build a legitimate winner.

I beg to differ on the crappiest player ever though. The Vancouver Grizzilies took Bryant "Big Doughboy" Reeves and then when his first contract was up, they offered him more money. The Grizziles easily win for crappiest player, worst general manager, and worst owner.

My bees knees said so.

For the simple fact that he didn't try while playing a game while making millions. I have no respect for that man.

In the NBA team management has to cater to the star player you are building around. Team management did a piss poor job trying to supply VC with the players required to further build apon his skills. Just look at the players that used to play for the raptors. VC, TMac, Camby, Stoudamier, Billups, Christie and Davis just to name a few. The problem hasn't been the players, its been team managment. All those players can't be in the wrong.

Look at whats happening in Cleavland. Probably the best young stud in the NBA right now in King James. He's been very outspoken with the way managment has been doing things. He's very upset with the firing of Silas as coach, and has said that if this team doesn't change direction, when his contract is up, he is gone. The same thing in LA. If the Lakers keep the coach, Shaq is still a Laker.

The reason VC is doing so well in NJ is because he finally has a pg to get him the ball on a consistant basis in Kidd. In TO he had to rely soley on himself for 3 years to get things done and at first he did an awesome job but after awhile it starts to wear thin. IMO, VC should be commended for comming forward with his statement that near the end he didn't play hard. Saying that openly takes guts, knowing full well the implications.

The Solution

The team has changed managers, they've changed coaches several times and things are still the same. The team is still in turmoil. It warms my heart to hear rumours of Richard Peddies demise, as I think thats where the true problems with this team lies.

They have 2 first round pics in the next 2 drafts, they have CB4, The Red Rocket and Arrulio. If Rafer can get his head out of his ass, and the can draft well this team will be playoff bound in the very near future, but they have got to get the managment side fixed first.

I used to love Vince Carter's game, in his first few years he was incredible and earned every cent of his contract. The he got hurt and after that he always seemed to be hesitative and never was able to bring the game back to the way it was.

I think his turn from fan favorite to whiny baby began after the first of 3 missing the playoffs, when he heavily criticized the team for not trading the pick(Bosh) for a veteren. After that he got injured again, the team missed the playoffs and in the off season he once again criticized the team and this time demanded a trade.

Now I can understand him being upset about losing again and again, but his own injuries, some of which he might have been able to play through are one of the major the reasons the team has been in a downward spiral. Not only that but he didn't want to rise up against the adversity the team was going through and opted to jump ship. Now had he played the way he is playing now for NJ he may have been able to fix the fortunes of this team, instead he dogged it and cost the team which leaves a sour taste in Raptor fans' mouths because this team could've at least been closer then they are now and it just seems like the team is heading nowhere fast. Oh well, I guess it's just a regular day for the Toronto Clippers.
