ROLE PLAYERS & / OR LEADERS should be the focus come Saturday. Preferrably a Center. A short list of players that depending on what their current club does with them, I hope Mucks will entertain the idea of bringing them to Ottawa..
*No particular order, and using no sources or basis, just thinking out-loud on my part.
Yzerman
Messier
Brind'Amour
Stumpel
Shanahan
Federov (?)
Sens boys, what do you think?
Agree / Disagree?

Yzerman/YES
Messier/NO unless he come very cheap
Brind'Amour/YES
Stumpel/NO
Shanahan/YES
Federov/YES
Also players like Peca, Roberts and few more that I can't think of should be on that list if available

I wouldn't mind the Moose. Lord knows what kind of a leader his is come the post-season. Peca would fit nicely as our #2 Center...where do we stick Roberts? Same with Shanny....it's the middle I'm most concerned about.

Yah I'm starting to think the same... One strong #2 Center is what we need to go all the way but a Roberts type player on the left would do nicely considering players like Vermette are natural centers

Pipe dreams, all of them. =] You guys should try and go after Reichel.
But, seriously - I think that Allison would be good fit for you down the middle.

Yzerman- Who do you think you are? The leafs?
Messier- ^^^^^^^^
Brind'Amour- Seems like a good fit
Stumpel- Interesting.
Shanahan- I doubt he'll leave Detroit.
Federov- If the price is right.

Could you explain that one John?
Actually I don't care who is playing 2nd line centre, as long he's not a big, slow, overrated and undermotivated player who wants to wear jersey #14. Actually that number should be retired as far as I'm concerned, for all the wrong reasons. :D
As it stands now, the Sens top two centres are Fisher and Spezza. (These two players who by the way were virtually ignored by our former coach.) The Sens, as they have been for years are loaded on the right side, but a team has to be tough down the middle to win in the playoffs. A simple solution could be to trade one of the wingers for a top, tough-as-nails centre, so who would you trade? Alfreddson or Havlatt? (Hossa is untouchable)
Or do you trade one of our top D-Men (Redden, Phillips, Volchenkov)
My pick would be a right-winger, and you'd probably be upset if I told you who I thought it should be, so I won't. :)

Stevenson mentioned dangling Phillips for a LW PF.
I'll find the source...

Well that I'm not sure of Macs. Again, let find the source and the actual context of what he wrote...I might be slandering him.

It wouldn't bother me if the trade made sense. I've never been a big Alfredson fan. He's obviously skilled and the BS that leaf fans dish out about him is grossly exaggerated but I still think we could do better for the money. Havlat I?d like to se given a shot on a #1 or 2 line. Either way the potential free agent market might give us a great opportunity without giving up one of our key players

Signing older past their prime players. Took a page out of the leaf hater's book that time.

Ya? I'm on the other side of that one. Alfie is one of the Top 10 players in the league today IMO. Him on the point on the PP is just lethal....

Signing one for expierence value alone is alot different than going out and signing a whole team of geezers.
The average age of each team (Sens / Leafs) will back me up on that one my Newfie friend...

Yzerman
Nik 'The Punching Bag' Kypreos mentioned that he could see Yzerman playing with the Senators if the 'Wings bought him out. So that pretty much means that Yzerman will play in Nashville next year...

Wings buying out Stevie Y??? That's nuts. I mean he's god to the fans there, and it shows a lack of respect IMO.

I guess Mr Roberts can be considered a realistic candidate as well now.
