That'd give a 22 man roster and $23,404,000 in salary. Oilers payroll will be in the area of $33,000,000. I'm allowing for some wiggle room due to a few guys who will want raises as they all won't accept a qualify sheet. (Jussi, Horcoff will both want to be 7 digit players, Smyth is a hard call, but I think he signs for 2.55 if it means having some "doug weight types" back.. should've heard him on the radio, he soudned like a little kid.
Anyway, back on topic.. $8,000,000.
Where to spend? :D
A few idea's I've seen thrown around..
Throw a huge offer sheet to Brad Richards or Spezza. Shoot for the moon, because those teams can't resign the player. This team is an instant cup contender at the loss of 5 first rounders, but with our current prospect pool, it could be argued we could pull it off.
Acquire a Pronger, Niedermayer type and then deal Brewer (Whose value right now is probally the highest it'll ever be - he has the amazing ability to make everything he does look pretty) for a C.. a Jokinen type. Not amazing, but solid.
Get the two best players we possibly can off the market. Adrian Aucoin and Ziggy Palffy come to mind.
Have at 'er boys!
