I can't wait for "Lord Of War" to come out sometime this year
Its directed by Andrew Niccol, who previously directed "Gattaca". Has a solid cast
-Nicolas Cage(perhaps he can act in this one?) :thumb:
-Ethan Hawke
-Eamonn Walker(solid British actor)
-Ian Holm or Donald Sutherland
Here is the plot
After escaping the USSR for the land of opportunity, young hustler YURI (Nicolas Cage) seizes the opportunity to make a buck by selling a key to the UN armory and realizing his calling as an arms dealer.
Driven by the lure of easy money and the heady cocktail of glamour and danger, Yuri and his brother VITALY claw their way up through the world of international arms dealing, all the while staying one step ahead of the law, ruthless competitors and treacherous clients by wit and cunning.
With private jets and a beauty queen at his side, Yuri savors the high life in the fast lane, even after being forced to kill in cold blood and learning the brutal personal cost of his profession.
But when Vitaly encounters the innocent victims of their unholy trade and is killed making a moral stand, Yuri's world begins to cave in...

Haven't see a preview for it yet, but it could have potential. Niccol did a great job with Gattica, and I was excited when I heard he was working with Pacino in S1M?NE... but that turned out to be a dissapointment.

"The Interpreter" is out today. I'll probably watch it, considering its free! The Hon Rev HoundDog will most likely like this one :thumb:
Political intrigue and deception unfold inside the United Nations, where an FBI agent (Penn) is assigned to protect an interpreter (Kidman) who overhears an assassination plot
I'm a fan of Sean Penn..always a good performance.
Also, out is "The Ballad of Jack and Rose", with Daniel Day Lewis. I am a big fan of DDL, perhaps my fav actor(yes more so than Owen ;) ), but the movie doesn't really sound all that great
Jack (Daniel Day-Lewis) lives on the site of his abandoned island commune with his 16-year-old daughter Rose (Camilla Belle). Jack has sheltered Rose from the influences of the outside world, but now Rose's emerging womanhood poses troubling questions about the days ahead. A man who has lived a life motivated by environmentalism and other altruistic causes, Jack now rages at those who do not share his concerns, like developer Marty Rance (Beau Bridges), who is building a housing tract on the edge of his property. When Jack invites his girlfriend Kathleen (Catherine Keener) and her sons Rodney (Ryan McDonald) and Thaddius (Paul Dano) to live with them, Rose feels betrayed and the situation quickly becomes precarious. Rose acts out wildly, creating chaos. As everything flies out of control, Jack finds himself trapped in an impossible place and is forced to take action.

Went to see that Drew Barrymore Jimmy Fallon movie, total chick flick aimed at the Sports audience.
What really made me laugh was when she ran across the field during the ALCS game, Hollywood at it's best, or worse, whichever way you want to look at it.
I could see the similarities between the Red Sox fans and Leaf fans, also a good chunk of the filiming was carried out in Toronto, which is ironic as nowwhere did they mention the Blue Jays.

Watched "The Assassination of Richard Nixon" tonight, starring Sean Penn, Naomi Watts and Don Cheadle. The film was outstanding, had a "Taxi Driver" feel to it, as the conflict is similar in some ways. Sean Penn acted beautifully, as always. Naomi Watts, having done 21 Grams with Penn before, was able to bring something to the table. Don Cheadle adds a great supporting role, for what it's worth. I also give all the credit in the world to first time director Niels Mueller for putting together a great piece of work.
A few problems I had with the film is, I thought they tried to use the whole 9/11 happening to their fullest advantage and attract audiences. I also thought that Penn's character, Samuel Bicke, became somewhat annoying as the film went on.
Anyway, I definetly recommend it. This movie isn't for the average watcher, as you have to actually think every now and then. Though, if your idea of good movies is Ben Stiller and Will Smith, perhaps you should check out the latest action flick. :]

There is a movie coming out called "Layer Cake" with Daniel Craig(who?)
http://ia.imdb.com/media/imdb/01/I/19/66/98m.jpg
Based upon JJ Connelly's London crime novel, "LAYER CAKE" is about a successful cocaine dealer (DANIEL CRAIG) who has earned a respected place among England's Mafia elite and plans an early retirement from the business. However, big boss Jimmy Price hands down a tough assignment: find Charlotte Ryder, the missing rich princess daughter of Jimmy's old pal Edward, a powerful construction business player and gossip papers socialite. Complicating matters are two million pounds' worth of Grade A ecstasy, a brutal neo-Nazi sect and a whole series of double crossings. The title "LAYER CAKE" refers to the layers or levels the dealer has to go through as he painstakingly plots his own escape. What is revealed is a modern underworld where the rules have changed. There are no 'codes', or 'families' and respect lasts as long as a line. Not knowing who he can trust, he has to use all his 'savvy', 'telling' and skills which make him one of the best, to escape his own. The ultimate last job, a love interest called Tammy and an international drugs ring, threaten to draw him back into the 'cake mix'. But, time is running out and the penalty will endure a lifetime..
Directed by the producer of Lock, Stock, and Snatch. Sounds pretty good, will have to check it out

Ridley Scott is always a for sure bet

Just saw "Kingdom of Heaven".
Here is my honest opinion, with no spoilers on the plot.
This movie is dark, gloomy, and really wasn't up to much
Good performances by Jeremy Irons, David Thewlis..among others in the supporting cast. Liam Neeson was alright, but we have seen it before. Orlando Bloom was better, but still doesn't have that leading man capability.
It was hard to know who to align with in this movie..the christians who were truly wankers at moments in the film..or the muslims who were also truly wankers.
It has been done before with "Troy", "Alexander", among others. The same sort of premise, big battle scenes..against all odds..blah blah blah same old. I think its time directors figure out that it will be impossible to top "Gladiator"..and leave it at that.
Perhaps it was edited too much for the movies?

Yesterday, saw "Layer Cake"..it came out in limited release, on Friday.
It was a good, entertaining british gangster movie. Not in the same mold as "Snatch" and "lock stock", but in a mold all of its own..much more serious, and better direction. Daniel Craig was awesome, excellent performance..totally believeable. Colm Meaney is also really good as the old Paddy.
I have also read the book, which was bloody brilliant. The movie wasn't as good as the book, as it did leave some parts out..or changed some parts. But this is necessary..otherwise it would be too long.
Recommended, much better and classier than any of the American crap in theatres. If you like movies with smarts, and acting the way it should be...Go see it

Just saw "Batman Begins"
One word describes this film, brilliant.
This is the best movie I have seen all year. Nolan again directs a masterpiece.
Bale is the perfect Batman. He captures all the different aspects to a key.
Oldman, Neeson, Caine, Cillian Murphy, and others all do a great job.
I don't really have a bad thing to say about this movie, just an all around classic.
By far the best Batman movie, and totally in a class of its own. Highly recommended

I was fortunate enough to score some passes to the regional premiere of 'Wedding Crashers' last night (doesn't come out until tommorow). :D
Thankfully it was a comedy, so I enjoyed it. It had a fairly good story line, with some good scenes between the actors. Several times the entire theatre (which was packed) was laughing uncontrollably. It was really funny - Vince Vaughn more so than Owen Wilson. At times though, I got the feeling of a 'Meet the Parents' remake, but other than that it was fairly original.
I'd recommend this movie. For a comedy, I give it an eight thumbs up out of ten.

I was in Vanocuver recently and had a Sunday after noon with nothing to do, so I thought it was the perfect time to see a movie I've wated to see for a while: Layer Cake. Or course I'm in North Van and Tinseltown is a bit far away but I could still make it on public transport. Too bad Layer Cake only plays at night so crap like War of the Worlds can run all day. So instead of seeing LC I walked down the block and saw WOTW instead.
What a waste of time and money. Lame tri-pod aliens, an-unbelievable story, thin plot and for some reason all the characters really pissed me off. The kids spend the entire movie never shutting up about how much they seem to dislike their deadbeat dad and want their mom instead. So what if he doesn't pay your school enrollment kids, the apocalyspe is happening! Plus the movie never focuses on anyone but the 3 main characters and one crazy person who they come across. You get no real feel for what is happening. There was one thing at the very end that was so ridiculous but I don't want to be a spoiler and give away what happens so I won't say though. Save your money.

Haven't seen it, but I'm sure the new version is way better then the Wilder version... never liked the original movie. It didn't have the 'dark' undertones that made the book a classic IMO. I think a Depp / Burton combo should do the book way more justice.

I saw the movie a few weeks ago and didn't think it was that bad. Cruise's character should have shown some backbone when it came to his kids and the sappy ending was ....pretty damn sappy....and seemed tacked on at the last minute. I figured it was on par with anything else Hollywood is churning out these days.
For me, I suppose, the movie holds a special interest having been scared out of my skin watching the original when I was a kid. Also, I had the double album set of Jeff Wayne's Musical version in the late '70's....

I thought it was THAT bad. They should have changed the name to protect the original.
Hollywood remakes are usually flops because they take the freshness out of every story and go over the top trying to make an impact. I wish they would stop trying to improve on classics.

C'mon Slappy, Cruise's son walks into a losing battle in which all soldiers were being aniliated and then shows up in Boston totally unscathed.
He makes it to the family home and they walk out like they just had tea, instead of a war.
And, those alien machines looking for Cruise, Robbins and little girl in the cellar.
As if they can't detect someone without being 2 inches away.
Also, all those machines buried for millions of years in places where we now have major cities, you think somebody might have noticed.
I could really tell the actors were green-screen acting.
And on, and on.
IMO . . .that film was very bad, and I wasted one of the very few nights out I get to enjoy.

There is a new movie coming out, called "V for Vendetta"
From the creators of the matrix. Starring Natalie Portman, Hugo Weaving, Stephen Rea, and John Hurt. Looks like a solid cast. I saw the end of the trailer, and it looks very good.
In a story where Germany won a future World War and Great Britain is now a fascist state, a masked vigilante known only as "V" conducts guerrilla warfare against the government. When he rescues a normal young woman (Portman), she joins his struggle against the forces of oppression...
People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people. Remember, remember the 5th of November.

The movie is based on the graphic novels created by Alan Moore and David Lloyd. Moore is considered by many in the comic industry to be the best comic writer ever. Considering that Moore has publically stated that the Wachowski Brothers have butchered his story, including the characters, setting, plot, etc. just so it appeals more to American audiences, I don't plan to see this movie. I've read the graphic novels, enjoyed them a lot and don't like when movies based on comics change key elements to spice things up. Example being Spiderman having organic webshooters or the latest Batman spending time stashed away in a remote location learning martial arts, etc. Neither of these things occurred in the comic books and it pisses me off when directors or other movie suits feel they can just change things when it suits them.

I was very surprised at how good the movie was. Ralph Fiennes is very believable, and puts forward a solid performance.
The direction was very good, as was the story. Its directed by Fernando Meirelles who directed "City of God"
Very good acting by all involved, and as I said..good story. Recommended, go see it. But remember, this is a drama/thriller..and not a Michael Bay film
Based on the best-selling John le Carr? novel and from the Academy Award-nominated director of "City of God." In a remote area of Northern Kenya, activist Tessa Quayle (Rachel Weisz) is found brutally murdered. Tessa's companion, a doctor, appears to have fled the scene, and the evidence points to a crime of passion. Members of the British High Commission in Nairobi assume that Tessa's widower, their mild-mannered and unambitious colleague Justin Quayle (Ralph Fiennes), will leave the matter to them. They could not be more wrong. Haunted by remorse and jarred by rumors of his late wife's infidelities, Quayle surprises everyone by embarking on a personal odyssey that will take him across three continents. Using his privileged access to diplomatic secrets, he will risk his own life, stopping at nothing to uncover and expose the truth - a conspiracy more far-reaching and deadly than Quayle could ever have imagined.

I saw "Red Eye" last week and let me tell you; the critics who gave it good reviews, need to be shot. It was 75 minutes long, most of it spent on the airplane, some spent on the ground. Everything was wrapped up too quickly and only the two leads had much screen time. Other actors got maybe 2 minutes tops. The end came too soon and I was like, "That's it, the movie is over, well that was just stupid. All that drama and then pfft, it's over". It was like buying a book with the second half missing.
If I could've got my money back, I would have. Don't go see this in the theatre and I wouldn't recommend renting it when it comes out on DVD.
I swear the favourable reviewers either saw a different movie or got bribed with gift baskets after the screening because this movie sucked.

Yeah some of my buddies have checked that one out and gave the same sort of review: horrible. So I'll continue the trend of reviewing bad movies with one more. I remember when I saw The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen a few years back I thought that no movie could be worse...then I saw Hellboy and was set straight. However a new movie has emerged to be found worse than both of those combined: The Brothers Grimm. It's not even an issue of wanting my money back...I want my time back.
But I can't wait to see the possession of Emily Rose, hopefully it's as scary as it looks so that will break the bad movie trend.

Not so sure about that one. Its supposedly taking advantage of something, very loosely based upon
When I saw "Dark Water", they had a full preview of that movie
To be honest, I almost walked out of the theatre during that preview. It seriously gave me the creeps. Not the good creeps either..Very few movies do that for me.
Saw this movie called Action Jackson. In French. Not really what I was expecting.

Unless it's about the adventures of a red balloon or the coming of age story of a preteen girl and her Merlot loving step father... French movies rarely turn out to be what I expected.

I finally got around to renting Sin City this weekend, and I have to say that I enjoyed the film. It had a different feel to it that I liked, and the acting was pretty solid. Might have to buy it.
I also rented Constantine, and thought the movie was okay. I'm not a big fan of Keanu Reeves, so I was surprised I liked this movie at all. Another strange sci-fi type movie that I liked.

So, yeah, should be good. Trailers can be deceiving
On Thursday night I went to see the premiere of the movie {Proof} (http://www.miramax.com/proof/) for free. I don't think it's being released to the public until next Friday. Maybe it came out in some major markets, starting yesterday, but I'm not too sure. Anyways, it was very well written and is aimed towards a smarter audience, that's willing to think about what's being presented. I had the unfortunate privilege of sitting through "The Notebook" on Saturday night. I wanted to shoot myself by the end.
Watched much of Bowling For Columbine on CBC TV Sunday. Again. Still good stuff the 2nd time. His critics are basically correct that Moore does tend to stretch the facts to drive home his point. But his point is often correct anyway. Swearing on Canadian network TV vs. US network TV?? ... Chris Rock drops the F word right off... I don't think this would be left intact on NBC or CBS at 8 PM. So Canadians are armed to the teeth... but peaceful... and swearing in front of the kids?
Noticed Moore demanded that the film not be shown on CBC because of their staff lockout. They ignored him.
Michael Moore accuses CBC of "acting like an American Corporation"
By Judi McLeod
Tuesday, September 20, 2005
Tipped off by a blogger that his Oscar-winning documentary Bowling for Columbine was to be aired by a strike-bound CBC on the weekend, Michael Moore sent word that he did not want the documentary broadcast.
Moore rushed a statement to network management condemning what he calls an "abhorrent" lockout of unionized staff by the CBC.
It was a locked out CBC blogger who notified Moore about the scheduled broadcast.
"I do not want my film being broadcast on the network unless it is willing to let its own workers back in to work and promises to bargain with them in good faith," said the statement, posted in full on www/parkdalepictures.blogspot.com.
In the statement, Moore questioned why "the great and honourable CBC" was acting "like an American corporation" and called on the network to continue its "historical tradition? of respecting its workers and their union."
Moore was off base when he accused the CBC of "acting like an American Corporation". American corporations are into turning profits. CBC is into taking profits--the $1-billion a year it gets from the Canadian Liberal Government, courtesy of Canadian taxpayers.
While hundreds of striking workers mill about downtown CBC headquarters, Canadians must content themselves to watch the antics of Ashley Peacock and Irma Barlow on Coronation Street, a British based soap opera.
Worse, while Canadian viewers are getting by without what some call CBC's slanted newscasts, many are calling cable giants to get hooked up to the Fox News Channel in order to catch Moore detractor Bill O'Reilly on the "the-spin-stops-here" O'Reilly Factor.
The CBC's 5,500 workers, locked out since Aug. 15, have been walking the picket in almost perfect summer weather.
Sunday marked the first time Bowling for Columbine was shown for free on Canadian television. The film was trotted out as part of the network's Turn on to Reality September Documentary Festival.
As CBC Watch might say, "that's reality, CBC style.
The network elected to ignore the marching orders of Moore, one of their most outspoken fans.
"As far as what our plans are for the film, we're going to put it on air," said CBC spokesperson Jason MacDonald. "We purchased the rights to do that and that's what we're going to do. Our audience are expecting to see it."
But Lise Laureau, president of the Canadian Media Guild said it was irrelevant whether Bowling for Columbine was aired or not.
Moore's statement, Laureau said, was "essentially emotional support".
"What's important is that filmmakers, creators, (and) people who are out there in the creative community condemned the CBC for its actions of us locking us out.
"And that's what Michael Moore has done."
Meanwhile, the only ones who miss the left-leaning CBC more than Michael Moore does are Paul Martin and his Liberal MPs.

I'm enjoying the CBC programming, radio anyway, much more then I did before... Lock on baby... lock on. For the first few weeks an announcement would come on every once in a while saying "We apologize for the disruption of our regular broadcasting schedule due to a labour dispute?, now they say "We regret the disruption of our regular broadcasting schedule due to a dispute with our unionized workers.? Moore should be taking notes? this would make for a good CBC made for television movie.

I've been hearing about all kinds of violence in the states and the media is relating it to this 50 Cent movie that just came out
Man dies after 50 Cent screening
Hip-hop star 50 Cent has said he is "saddened" after a fatal shooting at a Pennsylvania cinema where his film Get Rich Or Die Tryin' was screening.
Sheldon Flowers, 30, was shot three times at the Loews Cineplex at West Homestead, near Pittsburgh, after an argument broke out between four people.
Police said Mr Flowers, who died in hospital, was carrying an unregistered gun without a permit.
The film - based on 50 Cent's life - has caused controversy in the US.
The rapper - whose real name is Curtis Jackson - has been shot nine times, spent time in prison and dealt drugs.
He told US network ABC: "I feel for the victim's family in this situation.
"But, you know, these weren't kids. This was a 30-year-old man who had a dispute with three other guys."
Billboards removed
Police said Mr Flowers - who had just been to see the film - and one other person had fired the shots, but they had no suspects. The row began in the toilet, before spilling out into the lobby. It is not known what film the three men had seen.
Loews said the cinema would stop showing Get Rich Or Die Tryin' while the investigation continued.
In California, billboards promoting the movie were removed from areas near Los Angeles schools after community leaders claimed it glorified violence.
In Ohio, another cinema chain, National Amusements, stopped midnight screenings in a neighbourhood of Toledo, where rioting occurred last month after a neo-Nazi group visited the city.
Police raised concerns that the film could lead to more unrest.
The film, which also stars one-time So Solid Crew star Ashley Walters, was released in the UK on 20 January.

This is a movie starring Clive Owen, with a decent supporting cast. Directed by Mike Hodges, who also did "Croupier", "Get Carter" etc.
It was alright, but was missing something. Also, quite a few plot holes. But still, a good rent.
Will Graham is a gangster who has left the life of crime and is living in the countryside. He comes out of hiding to investigate the death of his brother when he learns that he committed suicide. Charlotte Rampling is his old girlfriend who owns a restaurant. Boad is the villain responsible for the bad things that happened to Will's brother.

Well I watched a couple of movies at the theater and one of them was called "The Ice Harvest" starring John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton. The movie is about 2 guys that rip off an owner about $2 million. As usual things don't go right and blood is shed. The movie was fairly violent and filled with subtle humour along the lines of "Fargo".It was a fairly decent movie,7 out of 10!
The next one was a Kiera Knightly movie called "Pride and Prejudice" and this movie is based on Jane Austins novel. And before people get any ideas this happens to be my wife's favourite novel so I did the decent thing and took her to this movie. Its a period piece and love story so I wasn't expecting much but I must say that this movie was very entertaining and funny.I actually enjoyed this movie and give it a 9 out of 10 and rank it as one of the best movies this year!:eyebug:

Also has a very attactive Anjelina Jolie. :D
Another Cusack film I really enjoyed is called Grosse Point Blank. Saw this a few years ago and thought this was a great little film then.
Plot outline: Martin Blank is a freelance hitman who starts to develop a conscience, which causes him to muff a couple of routine assignments. On the advice of his secretary and his psychiatrist, he attends his 10th year High School reunion in Grosse Pointe, Michigan (a Detroit suburb where he's also contracted to kill someone). Hot on his tail are a couple of over-enthusiastic federal agents, another assassin who wants to kill him, and Grocer, an assassin who wants him to join an "Assassin's Union."
Let me just say that Dan Aykroyd is at his very best in this as Grocer. I highly reccommend this as a good pickup at the local dvd store.

I can't wait for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I remember reading the book and I saw the animated film version years ago.
It opens on Friday here but I'm a season ticketholder for the local junior hockey team and they play Friday. So either I go to their game and tape the Canucks/Sens game or stay home and watch the Canucks/Sens game. Then Saturday has the Dallas Stars playing the Leafs at 4:00 pm and the Sens stomping on the Flames at 7 pm. The Sens will be mad after losing bad to the Canucks.
So Sunday it is.

That's not as bad as the Sens renting a three pack of Meg Ryan films. Blockbuster in Calgary reports that Bryan Murray has requested copies of Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, and You've Got Mail for a late night slumber party on Saturday night. Crying when Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan meet will help the Sens forget two devastating losses to Western teams. :D

Anyone else going to see "King Kong" next week?It looks like its going to be full of action and imo it can't be any worse than the 1976 remake. This movie is also a labour of love for director Peter Jackson so I'm thinking this should be a good entertaining movie as he also spared no costs for his film which is now the most expensive movie ever made!

Well, I saw "Syriana" this evening
This movie is very well done. Perhaps one of the better movies I have seen this year. Clooney is very good, and the supporting cast is top notch. The story/direction is excellent
It really makes you think about the current affairs.
Go see this movie
From writer/director Stephen Gaghan, winner of the Best Screenplay Academy Award for Traffic, comes Syriana, a political thriller that unfolds against the intrigue of the global oil industry. From the players brokering back-room deals in Washington to the men toiling in the oil fields of the Persian Gulf, the film's multiple storylines weave together to illuminate the human consequences of the fierce pursuit of wealth and power. As a career CIA operative (George Clooney) begins to uncover the disturbing truth about the work he has devoted his life to, an up-and-coming oil broker (Matt Damon) faces an unimaginable family tragedy and finds redemption in his partnership with an idealistic Gulf prince (Alexander Siddig). A corporate lawyer (Jeffrey Wright) faces a moral dilemma as he finesses the questionable merger of two powerful U.S. oil companies, while across the globe, a disenfranchised Pakistani teenager (Mazhar Munir) falls prey to the recruiting efforts of a charismatic cleric. Each plays their small part in the vast and complex system that powers the industry, unaware of the explosive impact their lives will have upon the world.
I can't wait for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I remember reading the book and I saw the animated film version years ago.

I went and saw "King Kong" and it wasn't too bad but wasn't as good as I expected! The CG effects are good and King Kong himself looks awesome but the movie itself is so over the top and laughable that I kept thinking about "War of the Worlds" and how average it was!The connection you see between Kong and Naomi Watts are the best parts in the movie. Some action sequences are terriffic and some parts are a bit scary for the young ones.If you're looking for a movie thats full of action with little brains but good dramatic parts then this is the movie for you but if you hate movies that are totally fake then skip this one.I give this a 7 out of 10!

Odd....I thought that that movie was one of the worst I've ever seen, next to Hellboy and the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. That's just me of course.
But yeah, I saw Munich last night and that one blew me away. I'm a sucker for those political/spy movies though, but this one was great. I've been a fan of Eric Bana recently and he was freakin' good in this one.

Was it as controversial as they say? Actually I don't really care... I heard that it's not exactly "historically accurate"... but hey... it's all about selling tickets right? Which I rarely contribute to anyhow. I go to see a movie in a theater about once a year. (This is usually around Christmas when family visits from New Hampshire where Big, Loud theaters don't exist yet) This year it was The Chronicles of Narnia... talk about controversial. I read the book when I was young and never realized how blatantly biblical the story is. Although, even the imagery of the film had strong Christian undertones. "Jesus" was all I could muster to say. Oh and some idiotic couple decided that it would be pleasant to bring their new born baby to the 3 hour movie... proving once again that paying to go see a flick in the theater is waste of time and money!!

Hrm...controversial? I didn't think there was anything controversial about it. With regards to historical accuracy, well I wasn't born yet in '72 and I doubt I would have been there to witness it first-hand if I had been, so I couldn't tell you whether or not it was accurate. People died. If no one knows how, then that part is open to interpretation.

Dude I'm right there with you on that one. If movie's cost $4.00 to go to, then I'd go often. But when you're taking a girl out, it isn't necessary too hot to say "Hey I just downloaded this movie, come watch it on my computer" ;)

I rarely go myself mainly because
A) I get stuck near someone who smells funny
B) I #$%^ hate commercials when you just spent 50$ to watch a movie
I used to buy used movies on a regular basis as a movie buff but since the quality of films has hit rock bottom I just download them and burn them. The viewing quality is negligible and if I’m going to be completely disappointed its better free.

It was alright. At times the film was very well done, but then at others..it was just alright

Some of the best movies or ones that I wanted to see this summer and fall, like Clerks 2, haven't come to the Greater Metropolis of Salmon Arm because the theatre complex's board is a bunch of uptight old farts who block any decent movie because it might be PG or higher.

I'm not a big fan of the theatre anymore because the popcorn sucks, the seats are uncomfortable and they make me watch damn commercials. My home theatre is sweet and a much better atmosphere so I just watch movies as they come available. IMO there hasn’t been much quality out there for movies but the two most recent movies I’ve seen that I’d recommend to all is Lucky Number Sleven and V for Vendetta.
Children of men is supposed to be good, I have it but have yet to watch it. If you’re into good documentaries I’d strongly suggest An Inconvenient Truth. It’s a freighting reality of what damage we’ve done to our world and what will be if we don’t change our ways. It’s a purely factual based documentary on global warming and IMO a must see for all.
ADD - FYI I saw Clerks 2 and didn't think much of it. Jay and Silent Bob weren’t in it much and one of the convenient store owners the story revolves around is annoying as hell. There was one scene in it near the end that makes it almost worth watching. It made me laugh out loud for good 5 minutes but other then that it was boring.

Haven't seen Clerks 2 yet but will still watch when it comes out on pay per view.
Action - Watch the new Bond flick "Casino Royale",very good!
Comedy - Beerfest, this movie is so stupid but hilarious esp when you're drunk yourself,a total guys movie! And "Borat" another stupid but funny movie.
Horror - Hostel, this movie is messed up bigtime and the violence and gore is simply shocking.
Crime Drama - The Departed,a good cat and mouse thriller with good acting and my pick for best movie of the year so far!
Drama - Syriana and Munich which both came out late last year but are good to watch.
Romance - none worth watching, they all suck

Whats the thing about Clerks? I didnt really like that movie :D
Anyway, Bond is great. You should for sure see this film. Arguably the best Bond in the franchise
Blood Diamond is average. It tries too hard to follow the mold of "Hotel Rwanda", and "The Constant Gardener". I wouldn't recommend it..
BTW, agreed Mr. Hack.."Syriana" is an excellent film
Last fall I went to perhaps the worst film since Battlefield Earth. The film was Snakes On A Plane. It was brutal and even Samuel L Jackson couldn't save it. The movie totally sucked and it turned out that both my friend and I were thinking of leaving but figured the other one was liking it. We could have save ourselves the torture by speaking up after the first 15 minutes.
I've seen some big stars make crappy films before and then make a comeback but Jackson could suffer for years because of this stinker. Jackson must have been desperate for money or the object of blackmail to star is this load of garbage.
I wish I could go back in time and stop myself from seeing this dud.
By the way, the film just came out on DVD in case you want to buy or rent it. :D Too bad it didn't come out before Christmas, I would've bought it for my friend as a gift.

I saw "Bridge to Terabithia" last night and it only gets 2 iced tea cans out of 5.
The preview was all about the fantasy of Terabithia but the movie itself was mostly about the kids reality. While the story was good, the acting was good; I was very disappointed that the Terabithia parts weren't bigger. Plus the ending was very anti climatic because just when things were getting good, the movie ends.
Kids may really enjoy this movie but adults will be disappointed. I guess I thought this would be a fantasy movie for all ages but I was wrong.
The local film festival is on and I'm going to see Pan's Labyrinth tomorrow night. It's supposed to be freakin awesome. The only reason it's not a huge hit in North America is because it's subtitled from Spanish.
On that note, when Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was in town, so many morons were complaining that they could understand the movie. I asked why they didn't read the subtitles and people actually said they don't come to movies to read. The movie was an international hit that was well worth seeing and idiots thought it suck because it wasn't in English.

I definitely recommend this film if anyone wants to expand their movie experience beyond the mainstream crap.

Years ago I saw the German film Das Boot in German with English subtitles, I awas really into the film. A few years later I saw it on TV dubbed into English and it just wan't the same. In university I saw a Japanese version of MacBeth, that had French subtitles, my french was good enough then, that I could follow the story. It strikes me that people who don't like subtitles are the same grooup that don't like films being "letter boxed" when broadcast on TV. They think the black lines on the top and bottom of the screen mean they are are somehow getting ripped off when the opposite is in effect. Adjusting the image to fit onto a TV screen usually means the back ground mage and action is cut out.
The utterly unthinkable has occurred in the US. A movie that was panned by every movie critic with any experience, has not only won the weekend box office race but has also given Disney its best ever March opening.
Wild Hogs is a total piece of garbage that should never have been made. Every good movie critic agrees with me. But somehow enough morons in North American can't be bothered to realize that the trailer was pure crap and that it would lead to a massive steaming pile of doodoo.
Too many movies are being made that treat moviegoers like morons; from the American Pie movies to the loads of crap Eddie Murphy keeps putting out. Has anyone in Hollywood had a new idea this century?
The Oscars, while boring as hell to watch, showcase some of the top films each season but do people flock to see films like "The Queen", "Little Miss Sunshine", "Babel" or “Curse of the Golden Flower”? Heck no, they are too busy seeing whatever crappy buddy movie or teenage crap is out that week.

However the right wing political comentators use the fact that the box office for these movies that garner critical acclaim and win the prizes is poor, and thus is evidence that Hollywood is out of touch. Too me it is evidence that they market to the lowest common demoninator and that most movie theatres are filled with people looking to kill time and not be entertained, or have their synapses stimulated.

It's great if you don't mind violence, if you do um, you might wanna pass on that one.
I will definitely watch it again, it's that kind of movie that you have to watch more than once because you miss things the first time. (I know because one person I was with saw it already)
I saw 300 tonight and it receives 5 iced tea cans out of 5. Awesome movie, Frank Miller is a genius with the written word. The special effects, the acting, the violence and bloodshed were amazing. Definitely a must see.
One thing I should point out is anyone with a weak stomach, hatred for violence and gore, has heart problems or is under 16, should definitely not see this movie. Stay away from it, go see the latest cartoon instead.
We rented the movie Flushed Away with our daughters, an animation movie. I was set for an exciting night falling asleep when I could have spent my time on the computer listening to the Penticton Vees kick Williams Lake instead...
I was very pleasantly surprised. This movie is great. We laughed all night at those signing slugs!

I heard it was a pure action movie, but not an epic
I might see it for myself

One of the actors in 300 could be Darcy Tucker's brother or twin. Or did Tucker do some acting last summer? The movie was filmed in Montreal, a short drive from Toronto. :D

I watched Who Killed the Electric Car this weekend and can honestly say it's the best documentary I've seen in a long time and better then most movies I've seen too. I never new a documentary on a car could trigger any kind of emotions.
Without going into any details all I can say is watch this movie and let me know what you think after.

Caught "300" last night..
It was good, worth seeing, but wouldn't watch it more than once
One big battle scene. Not much dialogue, but then again, its a comic book, right? Thats what I was telling myself..

Seeding is basically sharing the file you just downloaded. Most torrent software will automatically seed what you’re downloading while you’re still downloading. Once you are done you can usuall
