BRISTOL, Connecticut (Ticker) - It appears Terrell Owens' second year with the Philadelphia Eagles has the potential to be quite rocky.
ESPN reported Tuesday that Owens took a verbal jab at Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb for his performance in Super Bowl XXXIX against the New England Patriots.
In the interview, Owens said he "wasn't the guy who got tired in the Super Bowl," a reference to several media reports that claimed McNabb was either ill or tired late in the fourth quarter of the Eagles' 24-21 loss to the Patriots.
McNabb has denied those reports, but several offensive linemen said that McNabb appeared ill and that receiver Freddie Mitchell was forced to call a play in the huddle. Eagles coach Andy Reid also denied that McNabb was ill.
Owens' reported comment to ESPN likely will ignite the controversy again, which will not please either McNabb or Reid.
Last week, Owens switched agents, hiring Drew Rosenhaus and prompting speculation that he wanted to revise the seven-year, $49 million contract he signed with the team last season after being acquired from San Francisco.
Owens neither confirmed nor denied that in his interview with ESPN.
"As always, there is a lot written and (said) without anyone talking to me," Owens told ESPN. "I mean, I can't do right and I can't do wrong. It's getting, in some ways, like it was for me in San Francisco. But the one thing that won't change is that I'm going to show up to play and to win. No one can ever (debate) that."

TO is a creep - I don't care what kind of numbers he puts up. He's always been out for himself and no one else.

Gee I thought that salary caps were supposed to put an end to holdouts and whining players demanding renegotiations of contracts . Funny the Eagles won the the NFC playoffs without him and lost the Superbowl with him. Hmmm

I'm not going to hold anything against the guy, he played amazing in the super bowl and almost willed the team to win. I don't care much for the comments he made, but he just might be challenging McNabb to get better and inspire to win it all next year. Or it could be another one of those NHLPA things where it was taken out of context.
Even if there is truth to the rumours that McNabb was sick, so what? People get sick. What TO fails to remember is that McNabb is the best QB that has ever thrown him tha ball, and if the ball doesn't get in his hands, then he doesn't score all those TD's. That being said TO is probably THE best WR there is right now and any team that has him will either have to put up with his antics or move on. He isn't going to change now.

The Vikings said the same thing about Randy Moss for years, and look what happened there. ;)

Honestly, T.O. you don't get it do you. So many teams are just going to be so turned off by your attitude that nobody and I mean nobody will want you (although Washington and Oakland might be crazy enough). Continue these stupid games and you might find yourself unemployed, permanantly!

Good read. Are other articles he writes this extreme? I don't usually pay much attention to ESPN.

McNabb responds to T.O. (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2049794)
TO is and always has been a cancer... He's showing it big time in philly.
McNabb is a classy guy. It's ridiculous that he has to deal with this crap in the off-season.
I would like nothing better than for the Eagles to tell TO to take a walk. of course that won't happen .... he'll probably shake down the franchise for another 10 or 20 million, refusing to honor a generous contract that he signed.
He is the epitomy of what is wrong in professional sports.
Good for Donovan:"Just keep my name out of your mouth," McNabb said. "Don't try to throw names or guys under the bus to better yourself. You never heard me say any names in any situation. You never heard me talk about any given players. I'm the guy to be professional and be a man about things."
Yeah TO is not a cancer

Eagles owner: No renegotiation for Owens
BY ASHLEY MCGEACHY FOX
Knight Ridder Newspapers
PHILADELPHIA - (KRT) - Blasting Terrell Owens' agent for giving the disgruntled wide receiver "self-destructive advice," Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said Tuesday that the team would not renegotiate Owens' contract.
"It's not even an issue," Lurie said in an exclusive interview. "It's a nonissue. There are a lot of things I spend time thinking about, but that's not one of them."
Reached at his off-season home in Atlanta on Tuesday night, Owens declined to comment.
After a stellar season in which he led the Eagles with 1,200 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns en route to the team's first Super Bowl appearance since 1981, Owens last month switched agents from his longtime representative David Joseph to Drew Rosenhaus. A powerful agent in the NFL, Rosenhaus quickly flew to Philadelphia for a five-minute meeting with Eagles president Joe Banner.
"My policies are not to comment, so I have no comment," Rosenhaus said.
Neither Rosenhaus nor Owens has said what type of deal the star receiver wants, only that the seven-year $46 million deal he signed before joining the team in 2004 was inadequate. Rosenhaus has not ruled out Owens' missing the Eagles' training camp in July.
Asked whether he expects Owens to be with the Eagles when the regular season begins in September, Lurie said: "If he wants to win a Super Bowl, he sure should be. At this level, with multimillions (of dollars), you're just trying to leave a legacy and win Super Bowls, as far as I'm concerned. And he's got a great opportunity."
In a wide-ranging interview in his office at the Eagles' complex, Lurie blamed Owens for allowing Rosenhaus, who has an NFL client list of more than 90 players, to give him "self-destructive advice."
"It's a shame," said Lurie, who bought the Eagles in 1994 for $185 million.......

Good. I'm tired of assholes like TO always getting what they want.
What is TO's salary? It's probably already much more then any WR is worth. The most arrogant overpriced players, like TO, can always be found in that Wide Reciver slot.
I hate T-Hole so much that I went out of my way to look up these stats from last season. Does this look like a guy who got "ripped off" signing a $40 something million contract just last year? Are his numbers so impressive that his new agent is going to have him hold out now, failing to honor a contract he was only too happy to sign one year ago?
From last season's official NFL stats page
receptions : 77 (23rd place) --- league best = Tony Gonzalez (102)
touchdowns : 14 (7th place --- 3 way tie) - league best = Shaun Alexander (20)
reception yards : 1200 (11th place) --- league best = muhshi Muhammad (1405)
Thank god the NFL is hard capped... and thank god the Eagles owner is digging in for a hard stance. I hope TO sits out a whole year so we don't have to be exposed to him next season, constantly bitching at McNabb to throw him the ball.... and then throwing McNabb under the bus in post season interviews.
I can't remember if I've ever formed this much of a dislike for a professional athlete in any sport. And it was well before he arrived in Philly. I hated him out west too... he just wasn't in the media as much out there. :curse:

Who you going to believe the stats or TO and his agent? :pimp:
Is it just me or does everytime a team gives into one of these prima donna's and builds the offense around them, the team and the player both have bad seasons?
