Dickenson named top Offensive Player
TSN.ca Staff
B.C. Lions quarterback Dave Dickenson is the CFL Offensive Player of the Week. Dickenson completed 22 of 28 passes for 260 yards and one touchdown in the Lions season opening victory against the Toronto Argonauts, a rematch of last year's Grey Cup final.
Dickenson did not produce any turnovers and kept the Argos defence off balance throughout the game with a combination of rushing and passing players. His poise and patience paid off for B.C. in the final minutes of the game, guiding the Lions on an 80 yard drive for the winning score.
Saskatchewan pivot Nealon Greene and Edmonton quarterback Ricky Ray were also considered for the weekly honour. Saskatchewan defensive back LaDouphyous McCalla is the Defensive Player of the Week after recording one interception, two tackes and two knockdowns in the Roughriders win over Winnipeg.
The Lineman of the Week award goes to Edmonton's Rashad Jeanty, who had one fumble recovery and three quarterback sacks against the Ottawa Renegades.
Saskatchewan running back Corey Holmes is the Special Teams Player of the Week, returning two punts for a total of 71 yards and taking the opening kickoff of the game 81 yards for a touchdown. Holmes finished the evening with 219 special team yards.
P-do, you were the first thing that popped in my head when I read this. *L* You must be thrilled...
EDIT - No Gades Awards? What game were they watching?..http://67.18.37.18/2218/38/emo/Grrrr25.gif
