LOS ANGELES : US pop princess Britney Spears confirmed Tuesday that she is pregnant with her first child, ending weeks of frenzied speculation over whether she was launching a new career as a mother.

"The time has finally come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together," Spears and her husband of seven months, Kevin Federline, announced on the singer's website.



"There are reports that I was in the hospital this weekend, Kevin and I just want everyone to know that all is well. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, Love Britney and Kevin."

Spears, 23, and Federline, a 27-year-old former backup dancer in Spears' stage troupe, married secretly in September after a whirlwind romance.

Media have speculated for weeks that the entertainer was expecting, but she had refused to comment on her family status.

Her life is becoming funnier than Jessica Simpson. First the 48 hour marriage, then she marries a guy who has two kids with a previous girlfriend, and the one child was just born. This guy needs to keep it in his pants.

As for Britney, I could really give a rat's butt about her. She has no talent.

Well we don't have Beckham and Posh so we have....Britney? I guess we could congradulate her maybe? I still don't fully understand the celebrity worship thing.

Well I guess congratulations are in order, although I always get the sneaky suspision that Celebrities have children to benefit their career and not think about if it is the best thing.

She is 23(or 24) and has the money to support a child, so maybe she is ready, who knows?

I still don't fully understand the celebrity worship thing.
