View Full Version : Juventus vs Liverpool
Well tomorrow will be home to one of the most anticipated matches of the champions league quarter finals( asides from the MILAN clash this has been the most exciting after 1 leg). Liverpool snuck out a 2-1 victory in the first leg. But tomorrows game will be held in crazy Torino, home to some of the wildest fans! As we've seen today fans can be a factor. And for that reason Juventus will take this game! Not only for that reason but also:
- Buffon will play a better game tomorrow
- The big stars for Juve must awaken(I believe they will!)
- Liverpool will not be able to take the heat in Torino with all the surrounding fans
- Juventus's defence must awaken!!and they will!
My prediction Juve takes the game 2-0 and win 3-2 on Agg!
(I'm a huge Juve hater folks, so I'm not siding with anyone, although I shall cheer a little more for Juve! The more Italian teams in the Semi's the better! :D )

Go LIVERPOOL.
When You walk through a storm ....... :jazz:
*just warming up*
The stupidity has started already! BBC has reported the following.
Fans arrested ahead of Reds match
QUARTER-FINAL SECOND LEG
Wednesday 13 April, 1945 BST
Stadio Delle Alpi, Turin
A Liverpool fan was hit on the head with a bat on Tuesday evening at a Turin bar, police confirmed.
The supporter did not go to hospital and will still watch the game in Turin, but the home fans were arrested for violence and possession of arms.
Elsewhere, tempers flared at a hotel when Juventus fans arrived, reportedly carrying bottles and a stick.
Words were exchanged, but no fighting occurred and the Juventus fans ran from the scene when the police arrived.
More than 900 officers will be at the Stadio Delle Alpi in the wake of Tuesday's fan trouble, which caused the AC Milan v Inter Milan quarter-final to be abandoned.
But Italian counter-terrorism chief Giuseppe Petronzi told BBC Radio Five Live that police were ready and prepared to deal with "the highest level of risk" in Turin.
"We have reason for concern, but I'm confident we can manage the situation," he added.
We have the tools to avoid a dangerous situation
Giuseppe Petronzi
Italy counter terrorism chief
Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has already urged his fans to be on their best behaviour.
"Every fan in Turin should remember they are an ambassador for the club," he said.
But fears about the quarter-final grew after Tuesday's trouble in Milan and also when a number of Juventus fans rejected Liverpool's first-leg apology for the Heysel disaster by turning their backs on it at Anfield.
A total of 39 people died during the 1985 European Cup final between the two sides.
And Petronzi acknowledged that threats of retaliation had appeared on the internet.
Juventus supporters are likely to launch objects at Liverpool fans
James Richardson
Italian football expert
"We have paid a lot of attention to what they have written and now we must see if they want to do what they have written," he said.
"I have good reason to expect that this situation will not happen and if it does, we have the proper tools to avoid a dangerous situation."
Italian football expert James Richardson defended Turin's record, but said he expected Juve fans to throw things at the visiting supporters.
"There are specific towns in Italy where they have problems of violence, but Turin is not one of them," he said.
"One thing that is almost certain to happen is that Juventus fans will launch objects at the visiting supporters.
"If there is trouble at the Stadio Delle Alpi it usually boils down to flares being thrown towards the area where the visiting supporters have been quarantined by the police."
In the build-up to the game, Liverpool fans have been heeding police advice not to wear their club colours and to stay in designated areas.
A friendly game should take place, as a sign that the world hasn't forgotten
Otello Lorentini, president and founder of the Association for Victims of the Heysel disaster
And the sale of alcohol has also been banned for a 48-hour period.
Liverpool may have 3,000 fans in Turin and they have been advised not to buy tickets for Juve sections of the stadium.
Meanwhile, Otello Lorentini, founder and president of the Association for Victims of the Heysel disaster, believes the two clubs should arrange a friendly as a more fitting tribute.
"I want a friendly game to take place before the end of the year between Liverpool and Juventus in order to honour the victims of the Heysel tragedy," he said.
"This game would be a significant factor for us, a sign that the world hasn't forgotten."
The match hasn't started and the fans are already throwing bottles at each other. I wouldn't be surprised if they cleared the stadium and played without an audience. A very sad reflection on the state of football.

UEFA: Liverpool advance to semifinals
Canadian Press
4/13/2005
TURIN, Italy (AP) - Liverpool advanced to the Champions League semifinals on Wednesday after eliminating Juventus with a 0-0 draw.
The four-time champions, which won the two-leg series 2-1 on aggregate, withstood a fierce first-half assault by Juventus and a 78th-minute header off the post by Fabio Cannavaro to reach the final four for the first time since the European Cup became the Champions League in 1993.
The English team will face Premier League rival Chelsea in the semifinals in two weeks.
Liverpool made its first visit to Stadio delle Alpi since the Heysel Stadium tragedy when 39 people were crushed to death in riots blamed largely on Liverpool supporters at the 1985 European Cup final in Brussels.
Fans hurled objects at one another during a pre-game ceremony recalling the Heysel disaster. Police quickly stepped in and brought things under control.
There were also clashes with police outside the stadium in what has become a nightmarish week of fan violence in Italy.
On Tuesday, Juventus fans wielding baseball bats attacked a Liverpool supporter in a bar. That attack occurred shortly after a Champions League quarter-final match between Inter Milan and AC Milan at the San Siro stadium was abandoned after Inter fans threw flares onto the field, hitting Milan goalkeeper Dida.
Liverpool won the first leg on goals from Sami Hyypia and Luis Garcia. Cannavaro's late goal in the first leg kept things interesting until the end in the second leg, in which Juventus needed only a 1-0 win to advance.
"Liverpool, away from home, has always done very well. They played with a tight defence and fast counterattacks," Juventus coach Fabio Capello said. "Their defence was unbeatable. It was a difficult opponent with several good players. We played a good match, unfortunately we were unable to score."
Juventus controlled play in the first half but was slowed by seven offside calls.
Juve's best early chance came in the 11th minute when Zlatan Ibrahimovic sent a perfect cross from Gianluca Zambrotta high over the bar from only four yards out.
Besides a few offside calls, Juventus also complained it was being fouled in midfield, forcing fans to cheer when Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso was given a yellow card for a hard foul in the 29th.
Brazilian midfielder Emerson sent a long shot wide of Liverpool's goal in the 44th.
Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon was never challenged in the first half as Liverpool struggled to organize without captain Steven Gerrard.
Capello added a third striker at halftime, replacing Ruben Olivera with Marcelo Zalayeta, who played alongside Ibrahimovic and captain Alessandro Del Piero.
In the 53rd, Liverpool had a chance with a well-positioned free kick from 26 yards, but midfielder John Arne Riise did nothing with it.
Liverpool goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek intercepted a dangerous cross to Ibrahimovic in the 67th and made a leaping save on Lilian Thuram's free kick in the 75th.
His biggest save came after Cannavaro tried to stick the ball in after his initial attempt hit the post.
In Liverpool's only other appearance in the knockout stages of the Champions League, it was eliminated by Bayer Leverkusen in the 2001-02 quarter-finals.
Congratulations Liverpool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now do the same to Chel$ki.
