On this day in 1992, the leaf made Brandon Convery their first round draft choice, 8th overall. Convery, a major disappointment played only 50 regular season games as a leaf between 1995 and 1997, registering just 17 points. In 1998, he was traded to Vancouver for Lonny Bohonos. Lonny played a mere 13 regular season games in a leaf uniform. At last check, both Convery and Bohonos were playing in Switzerland, far away from Laffland. :D

I was always wondering. Some early photos of Senator players from the dark ages featured them wearing a crest on their shoulder with Smitty on it. What was the reason for that?

Bryan Smith AKA, "Smitty", local boy, long time sportscaster for CJOH Ottawa and former NHL player, randomly slain outside the CJOH studios, on August 1st, 1995.
