The leaf of 1990-91 finished second to last in the league and out of the playoffs again.
But there was one feature of this woeful bunch that stands out. They almost set an NHL record.
In 1989-90 the leaf recorded 337 goals. Production plummetted in '90-91 to 241, a decline of 96 goals. This one season decline is 2nd worst in NHL history. Only the Penguins of 1975-77 is worse with a 99 goal difference.
Do you have any special memories of the early '90s leaf you would like to share?

They, like everybody else, could still manage to crush the early 90's Sens!  :curse:

Actually with the death of Ballard and the settling of the estate, my memories are of Cliff Fletcher taking the team and retooling it to the point where they got to conference final in 93 and 94. Now I am sure our learned friend LH will point out that they lost both and never made it to the Stanley Cup final, but that is grist for another mill.

By 1997 they were out of the playoffs again

or is Rusty sounding more like me? ;)
Actually the 94 leafs gave me one of my fondest Canuck memories. Greg Adams overtime game 6. That and the Vancouver Sun taking Rosie Dimanno of the "Trudeau Star" to task for saying that from the deck of the Westin Bayshore Hotel the Leaf players were looking out at the Rockie Mountains. Unless the Bayshore's deck was in Golden, you look at the Costal Mountains.

"Trudeau Star" .
LOL...absolutely love the way you put that KB. Funny enough, DiManno is actually one of the writers that somethings moves away from the star's usual banter.
And yes the 1990-1991 Maple Leafs were awful. What else would occur when Leeman was doing Olczyk's wife.
Once again Thank you Hatred.
Without you us Leaf fans would never be aware of such inane and useless trivia!

Now Rusty, everyone has their day job. Obviously, LH hasn't quit it. As they say, "Don't quit your day job". I guess that includes even the most pathetic things.
