On this day in 1971, the Leafs acquired 39-year old Don Marshall in the Intra-League draft. After winning 5 straight Stanley Cups with the Montreal Canadiens in the 1950's, Marshall went on to become a steady 20+ goal per season scorer with the Rangers and the Sabres. In total, Marshall had already amassed 263 goals in his 18 year career. In his 19th and last season in the NHL as a Leaf, Marshall scored only twice. He then retired.

Sound familiar?

It's spookily similar to the Bryan Berard story.

Donny Marshall won five Cups as a Canadien. That's back when the Stupid leaf stunk. They still do.

Stupid leaf-embarrassmet to Canada.

What a disgrace.

Not getting many bites here, hey LH? Seems to be all mushy-mushy-buddy-buddy in these parts. Let's see.... Don't you think that despite the resent cap aggrement most likely hurting the Leafs the most out of all the Canadian teams, that they still have the best chance at bringing the cup back home? ... Don't you?

Canada is not a leaf home. Most of us hate them. I trust they will move to Siberia soon.
