A sad passing as the 71 year old comedian/writer/satirist/actor succumbed to heart failure on June 22. A man who used language and the power of words to poke holes in the pretensions of modern society, who was irreverent and never obscene, whose influence extends from the political rants of Lewis Black to the observation musings of Jerry Sienfeld, he will be missed.

a huge loss to the fans but such an inspiration to comics everywhere, he had a unique and straight forward way of telling it how it was and yes the truth is funny.

And I tell ya Mitch, I've always been a huge Carlin man myself but after I saw him in Vancouver in 02 he really turned me off. The whole Iraq war thing was happening; there was nothing but space to cut Bush's arse a new hole and what does he do? NOTHING - it was a brutal show that my wife and I forked over 70 bucks per to see. His big bit was about 18 year old girls who die on camping trips and how that's such a waste of young pussy. Seriously. His joke was, to near quote...."we should be cutting that pussy out and putting it in a jar of preservative to have our way with whenever we want".....People were laughing at his reputation, not the joke(S).

May he rest his soul but I will never forget that day....

Fair call, there are parts of peoples acts that is not to everyone's likings and i have to say I agree with you on the above post in regards to the material.

Apart from that he managed to get 15 HBO specials and throughout his career remained an individual, yeah anyone can crack jokes about a war and politics. But yeah he is gone now and will be missed and has played an important role in the world of stand up comedy.
