do the leafs have a chance?!

hey ya'll.. just wanted to know who else out there believes the leafs can still make it to the final playoff spot. they may not have sundin or antropov for now, but guys like steen and stajan have stepped up massively.. and as for the bruins they are on a terrible spell... i truly think the leafs have a great chance here to get back into it and to make the last couple weeks of the season extremely exciting. anyone agree they have a big chance here?? (or am i just crazy)

Well yes they have a chance, with Boston reeling but I suspect they will fall short, again.

Mathematically, any team not eliminated still has a chance of course.

If it was just between the Leafs and Bruins I might by into this.... but I think the Caps and Panthers will have something to say about it before all is said and done. (both of which have at least one game in hand over Toronto at this time)

In fact it wouldn't surpris me to see both the Caps and Panthers make it in. Both have all remaining games against SE teams. They also meet twice, meaning 3 points games could make or break playoff hopes for other teams.

Boston is diving fast, and Philly has 6 games left: 2 vs. Jersey, 2 vs. Pitt, 1 each vs. Rangers and Islanders.

Philly needs to kick it up about 5 notches starting right now or it's over for them.

Once again we are going to fall just a point or two short of making the post season.

The crappy thing about not making the playoffs is that we have now dropped out of the running for a top 5 pick, although the draft this year is supposed to be a good deep draft, we could have gotten a truly impact player. Now we are looking toward another mid first rounder who will spend a half dozen years on the farm only to become injury prone when he finally makes the leap to the big leads.
