I'll tell ya something, Rusty...my wife's 95 year old grandmother fell down and sustained the same injury Moore did. This was a year or two before the Bertuzzi/Moore fiasco. There were no neck braces, no nothing but rest. She's still alive, and while her other faculties are starting to fail her, she has shown no residual detracting effects from her 'broken neck'.

Steve Moore was a proffessional athlete. Maybe the concussion he sustained may have kept him out of hockey, but you'll never convince me that it was his 'broken neck' that ended his career.
