Not one team in the Southeast division is better than .500 - one of those teams will evenutally be handed the #3 EC playoff seed. Totally pathetic system.

Not one team in the Central division is worse than .500 - that is quite impressive when you consider Detroit is in that division with their 37 wins. You can't say they are feeding on their weak division any more.

5 points separate the entire Atlantic division.

The Rangers still cannot score after an expensive makeover at center. If not for Henrik Lundqvist, this would be a lot uglier.

My big surprises: Philadelphia, St. Louis, New Jersey, Columbus.

Notable players on the rise: Ryan Getzlaf, Brad Boyes, Mike Richards

What the hell happened to Jordan Staal? (worst fantasy bust I ever drafted.)

06/07 - 29g, 13a, +16 in 81 games
07/08 - 5g, 10a, -8 in 49 games

Weird first half that's for sure. It's like a soap opera so far.
I'd add Buffalo to that list of surprise teams...it's Staals' sophmore year isn't it?...almost to be expected...Jersey ceased surprising me years ago...again it's been a real weird year so far..

you could make a case for Buffalo because of the difference between last season and this season... but since they lost Briere and Drury both - I can't say I'm shocked to see them struggling this year.

I expected the Wings to Dominate, but not by THIS much. Also, I agree with Mel. Stupid Southeast division. Those teams don't even deserve to play in the NHL. What a Farce.

My biggest observations would be the emergence of some new amazing rookies. Kane, Toews, Gagne, Backstrom.

My biggest observation is that Gary Bettman is still the commish and shouldn't be.
