I picked up a copy of THN's '60 Moments that Changed Hockey' the other day, was reading how Plante's introduction of the goalie mask changed the league, and had the following idea.
How about an All-Star game where players used wooden stcks with no curves, the slap-shot was banned, and both the players and goalies played without helmets or masks? An equipment company could also design equipment for all players that mirrored what the players of 1950 used, in both function and appearance.
I believe next year's All-Star game is in Montreal, so it would be the perfect setting for such an event.
This idea is really meant for nothing but fun, and the interest it would generate in seeing something different.
What does everyone think?
