The Oilers host the Canucks on Hockey Night in Canada. I believe the Oilers have taken the last two contests in shootouts, and that means the Canucks are going to be hard pressed to take this one in regulation.
Luongo is doubtul to play, and Kesler is still listed day to day with the flu.
Its going to be a rough one unless the Sedins pull us through this one.

The Canucks are a tired injured and flu ridden team playing game number eight in eight different cities in the past two weeks. The Oilers seem to survive on the shoot out. Win it and the Cancucks are .500 for this "road trip" stretch of games, which is the most brutal part of their schedule this season.
Just to prove that not all members of the Oiler nation have drunk the anti-Canuck kool aid : http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/simpson/2007/12/luongo_not_just_best_in_the_we.html

I got me a feeling that since this is the end of this brutal trip there is going to be a breath of second winds that sweep through the locker room, energizing this influenza ridden bunch!
I can just see the locker room today. I bet it looks like a hospital with everyone on B vitamin drips!
Canucks win. Why? Cause I gotta be positive. :eyebug:

Shame on you Vigneault a crying shame you are in the shoot. Linden and Kesler were good picks, but Taylor Pyatt and Alexander Burrows? No offense to Taylor Pyatt, but a guy who hasn't been scoring this year and isn't a deker or sniper shouldn't be given a call in the shoot out.
Alexander Burrows, this guy gets chances, but he doesn't finish them. He misses the net on a breakaway and then he fucks up the shoot out.
WHY DIDN'T THIS AWARD WINNING COACH LOOK AT THE TWO TALENTED YOUNGSTERS JAFFRAY AND RAYMOND???????? WHY??????
These guys are likely to have a lot of shootout experience in AHL shootouts, and they are skilled guys who can bury a chance. In actuality, Garon wouldn't know these shooters because they don't have ridiculous amounts of tape on these guys in the NHL. All the signs pointed to give these guys a chance.
Give MacTavish credit, he puts the shoot out in the hands of his best players and they get the job done. Vigneault doesn't give his best guys a shot and look how he has done!
The Oilers have ten wins in the shoot out and are what four points back of the Canucks? I wonder what would happen if we had no shootout, and those twenty points turned into ten?

Agreed on Raymond and Jaffray and the shoot out, to my thinking, given the ham handeness of earlier efforts, why not try it. Sanford deserved a better fate. God help the Oilers if the NHL ever went to the 3 point for a regualtion win system.

coulda/woulda/shoulda = sour grapes
Instead of whining about the Oil's winning ways in the shootouts why isn't there anything of substance here? Parade route taking a detour?

If you have something of substance to offer, please go ahead you are more than welcome to exercise your perogative and comment. Just a question why does rooting for team you don't like make us bad people?

Just another solid argument for going over to the winning percentage system.
Burrows was tapped because he was their best forward last night. And Pyatt has a wicked wrist shot that he clanged off the post last weekend in the stupid-out against Pittsburgh. What I want to know is why Linden deked? What a moron.
I think Vigneault would do well to take a page from Crow's book and start a stupid-out contest in practice with these guys.
Ah well. They finished the 8 game trip 3-3-2 with 8 of 12 points. Can't aske for much more with all things considered.
Now they have a tough week, with two very good teams coming in before going back on the road for two on the weekend. Luongo vs Brodeur should be fun, and I'm betting the Stars have had this one marked on the calendar since the moment the schedule was released.
