Sidney Crosby is playing the Canucks tonight. Yup, the Pens have finally arrived in what may very well be a Cup final preview....I doubt it but hey, you never know.

At first I didn't think much of it. I though it wasn't that big a deal however, I think I am wrong. The best young talent is playing against the best goaltender on Earth. This year I believe Luo will win the Vezina, Hart, Conn Smyth and the Cup. What does that have to do with Sid the Kid. Nothing. I just like saying it.

I don't see the Pens young D handling our forecheck. Not just the top line either. Our D however will have their hands full as well containing the Kids. Look for the size of Stall to be a factor in the Pens favor and if Roberts is in the game I would think keeping our heads up should be a priority. He was after Phaneuf all night last game and Dion wanted little to do with it. Beat that old bugger to the punch and take him of his game before people start acting stupid.

Hopefully Jarkko gets the night off, he's just a boob

Canucks win and put on a show for the country on HNIC!

Luo's the man tonight...

I'm worried about this one. Sure the Canucks are a superior team to the Pens this season, but Luongo usually looks a little unstabe in his first game back after a long rest. Crosby is a guy who can take advantage of that.

Crosby did a great job tonight proving why Luongo is the most valueable player in this league. He had two one on one battles with Lui and lost them both. To make matters worse, he's held pointless and his checker Ryan Kesler scores the game tying goal.

Bad luck for the Sedins and Naslund tonight. I don't think I've ever seen those guys play a better game without getting a point. When it's just not your night, the rebounds are just out of reach and the tip ins go wide.

A true shame for Taylor Pyatt. He was inches away from winning this one.

This team isn't going to be winning games in shoot outs this year. When your best guy in the shootout is a dinosaur named Linden, that's just not good enough. Kudos to Luongo for holding his ground, but the inability to cycle in the shootout hurts this team.

A Cup final preview? Three point difference is considered "superior"? This is hilarious stuff! I thought Leaf fans were/are bad. Holy crap, man.

Well, let's see. The Canucks are 3rd overall and the Pens are 13th. The Canucks have the best goaltender in the game and the Pens have arguably the best offensive player. Yeah, them meeting in the Cup Final is a real stretch.

Why don't you just phuck off back to your own team forum?

The Canucks are 3rd overall and the Pens are 13th. Yeah....3rd = 35 points and 13th = 32 points. That's quite a difference of 3 measly points. Since the 'nucks are 6-2-2 in their past 10 games and the Pens are 7-2-1 it really IS apparent that the west coast club is VASTLY superior to the Pens. hahahaha....so much fun splitting hairs!

The Canucks have the best goaltender in the game....

Yeah, I guess so! *pffffft*

Wins - Luongo = 9th place
Save % - Luongo = 4th place
G.A.A. - Luongo = 5th place
S.O. - Luongo = 4th place

Considering Luongo doesn't currently hold a first place finish (let alone top 3) in ANY of the netminding categories we will all bow down to him and call him the BEST goaltender in the game.

Yeah, them meeting in the Cup Final is a real stretch.

30 (or thereabouts) games into the season and the 'nucks are only 3 points away from being out of a playoff spot. First they have to finish in the top 8 to secure a playoff spot. I know it's been some time, but just to remind you, they have to win 3 playoff rounds before they make the SCF.

Why don't you just phuck off back to your own team forum?

Watching 'nuck fans wearing their homer goggles is more fun!

Technically Luongo is second in shutouts, and just how his game has started to rise in Novemeber LeClaire's in Columbus has started to fall.

Vancouver is second in the West and it is largely due to the play of Roberto Luongo.

Luongo is the best goaltender in the game because of what he was able to do last night. Hold the best offensive player in the game Sidney Crosby to zero points. Even with a team that came out flat and could've been buried on the scoreboard early, he played well enough to get them a point out of the game, and his effort only fell short when a goal post in a shoot out decided the game. If Pyatt had scored, Vancouver would've walked away with two points, earned most directly by the play of Roberto Luongo.

If Pittsburgh dominated Pascal LeClaire or Evgeni Nabokov the way they dominated Vancouver early last night, it would've been 3-0 or 4-0 by the second intermission. With Luongo in goal it was 1-0.

If you're looking at voting for the Hart this season and both teams are where they are now. Look back to the game where a goalie's performance got his flat team a point, and the best offensive player didn't factor in the game. Crosby had two chances to beat Luongo one on one, and he failed both times. In fact the guy who shutdown the best offensive player in the league got more points.

Luongo Since Nov. 1

10 - 2 - 3, GAA - 1.60, SV% - 0.941, 4 SO

Chew on those stats for a while.

3 rounds? Really? Gee, thanks for enlightening us hicks, boyo. The point is, a Pittsburgh / Vancouver Cup Final isn't any more unlikely right now than a Philly / San Jose or Detroit / NY Ranger Final. And the FACT that the Canucks have the best goalie in the game and the Pens have the biggest offensive superstar in the game tends to give those two teams a tiny bit of a leg up on the rest of the competition most nights.

Right now the Canucks are ahead of the Pens in the standings, THAT stat supports Rusty's statement that the Canucks are superior to the Pens. Are they vastly superior? No. But I don't recall Rusty saying they were.

So why don't you take your 'homer glasses' and your reservations and your preperations and stuff them up your troll snout?

bah, someone always belly flops into the Oasis sooner or later.

why billy? WHY....WHY do you hurt me billy..

I only said SCF preview as a long shot thing anyway....However, I am sure good ole Slapshot would have shot down a similar prediction a few years back at this time of the season if the same were said about the Oilers and the Canes...

Fact is, the best TEAMS play for the prize....almost every year. And the Canucks may not hold the best numbers in the game but they have shown they're one hellova tight bunch especially after some of the injuries they've faced.

Anyway....sorry you have no one to talk with. And since we're really the only one's talking on this site, us homers that is, I'd say you should have figured out by now where you fit into the picture. :talkhand:
