After being a healthy scratch for two games, and logging among the lowest ice time during those games he has played where does Linden fit on this version of the Canucks? With Rick Rypien set to begin a conditioning stint in Manitoba and guys like Cowan and Brown to offer the "muscle" is this the end for the one time "face of the franchise"? I am sure Gordo will be happy ;) , and I believe Vigneault's obligation is to put out the line up that he feels gives him the best chance to win. I hope that this transition is handled with class and does not become an ugly festering distraction.

He'll sit out until February and then go on a scoring tear in the playoffs.

I'm happy that we have a coach that sees the situation for what it is and hasn't allowed himself to be blinded by the media's version of Trevor Linden. Why Nonis saddled himself with Linden this year is beyond me. Trevor should do the right thing and retire.
And I don't care what he did last spring. The team still didn't go anywhere in the playoffs, and the only reason they made it to the second round was because of Luongo. I've said it before; the Canucks have been nothing but playoff underachievers in the Trevor Linden era, and that's not because of bad luck or coincidence.
I've been saying it for two summers now. This team can no longer afford to give Linden a roster spot at the expense of the development of their younger players. Thankfully, Vigneault knows this and has the guts to do the right thing for the team.

See I don't understand where the problem is....this is just the media trying to create a storm out of nothing. This is an excellent opportunity for a Vet like Trevor to still be a part of a team. Him sitting out like this is contributing. It's also a moment where he could be transitioning himself into life after hockey. He could have both worlds right now....

Linden knew he would sit on a lot of nights based on the talk with Vingeault before he signed, the media has nothing better to do then stir up controversy or regurgitate press releases anyways.
