I can definately understand this move, because there is no way that Washington should be struggling as much as they are with a lineup that is so much better than they have had in years.

Yeah, true that.
You know, I wonder what Pat Burns is doing? I Know I've suggested him in the past for jobs and still I do. I wonder when this guy will get a shot again? I mean, Burns was a decent coach....all he did was get sick.

If burns made himself available to coach again i think he be with another team not the Caps.

I don't think Pat Burns will be back to coach any hockey. He's got nothing to prove as a coach anymore, and he's enjoying himself in Florida.

Well, last year I watched a Pat Burns interview on HNIC during the intermission and he was completely interested in coaching and was essentially saying he feels he's been blacklisted since getting sick. He said he was good to go and his health was back to the norm so...
I think he'd jump at the chance to coach in a split second.

Why? Who wouldn't want to coach a team with this level of talent? :conspire:
And Pat Burns, after all he's been through since getting sick I somehow doubt he'd tell the Caps he wasn't interested.....:slant:

It turns out journeyman player/coach Bruce Boudreau who took over the Caps from Hanlon was an extra in Slapshot: http://www.globesports.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20071129.wspt-boudreau29/GSStory/GlobeSportsHockey/home?cid=al_gam_mostview

Hanlon didn't blend well with the team. Hope they find a good substitute to make their team a tough competitor.
