A sad story about Foppa if this should go the direction he seems to feel it might...

definately a sad story.
What's so sad about all this is that doctors do such a top notch job treating so many conditions in hockey like Bryan Berard's eye or Teemu Selanne's knee, but nothing can be done about Forsberg's ankle.

Forsberg has been looking for an excuse to retire for years...

I don't think it is an excuse, more like a condition.
Some guys heal and some don't (forsberg, pavel bure)

Very Punny Rusty, very punny:rollover: :rollover:
Yeah I know, actually I never meant it as a pun.
And to think some leaf fans were calling for his signing, as if we do not have enough problems already.......

Ya his long tenure in a Flyers uni totally destroyed the team.

Forsberg would only sign with a team if he knows that he can withstand the grind of an NHL season. I'm sure adding Forsberg to a team will do nothing to hurt them.
If a contender like Detroit would add Forsberg to their roster, why isn't Forsberg good enough for the Leafs who are a fringe team at best?
He wanted to sign at least a three year contract after playing in only a few games during a tourny!
Considering his recent history of injuries that my friend is suicide, even for a "Fringe team" like the Leafs..........

He didn't want to sign a three year contract after the tourney because he pulled out of the tourney. If he was able to play in the tourney and he seriously thought his foot could hold up, the Leafs would have quite a first line center for the next three years.
What everyone has to keep in mind for Forsberg is that he doesn't have to play to prove anything. He's only going to play if he can produce effectively, and not have to deal with foot problems.
Freak injuries might happen over a few years for Forsberg, but I guarantee you if his foot problem can be solved, he won't be missing huge time with a chronic problem effecting his performance. With a fixed foot, Forsberg adds at least a point per game to your team.

Did he run the franchise into the ground or did the GM? The franchise was doing very well proving itself year after year untill the cancer forsberg rolled into town.

To me, Forsberg cancer has symptoms of Hatcher, Rathje, and Esche.

To me, Forsberg cancer has symptoms of Hatcher, Rathje, and Esche.Sorry but i have to disagree. Forsberg folded under the preasure imho and used weak excuses like not having the right sticks so he in a few games declined to take part in shoot outs, that right there speaks volumes about his lack of character.
He was brought in to add to the puzzle but in the end took away from it and the team. Peter over his career and on more than one occasion has threatend to take his puck and go home it's just to bad he didn't do it sooner and save the flyers and their fans a years worth of frusteration.

One mistake, and the failure to find or develope a consistant goal tender was what an oversight?

So which ONE mistake are we talking about?
Selling the team's future for Lindros
Letting Lindros' parents anywhere near the arena
Giving Leclair 9mil per season
Signing Vanbeisbrouk instead of Joseph
Signing Hatcher for 3.5M until he is 38
Signing Rathje for 3.5M until he is 37
or is the ONE mistake something else?
