OHL standout Marc Staal impressed enough in training camp to bypass a stay in Hartford. I am confident Staal will only get better as he develops his NHL game and work hard to shut down kid brother Jordan 8 times per regular season.

Brandon Dubinsky also got the nod as his defensive games improved after a season in Hartford.

22 year old goalie Al Montoya was sent packing to Hartford for what appears to be a third straight AHL season with Steve Valiquette holding down backup duty for Henrik Lundqvist. I look for the Rangers to deal Montoya this season With Henrik Lundqvist cementing his role as undisputed franchise goalie for many years to come.

Montoya back to the pack doesnt suprise me. His salary is much to high to be placed in a back-up role and would put the rangers close to the cap limit.
