View Full Version : Canada vs Czech Republic - Gold Medal Game
Here we go...
Prediction:
4-3 Canada in a shootout.
Nash, Heatley and Smyth for Canada, Dvorak, Hemsky and Jagr for the Czech's.
If it makes it to the shootout.. I'll even try to predict that:
Nash, Heatley, Thornton
Jagr
Canada wins shootout 3-1.

Side note: Is there a chat here we could talk on ?

That was depressing game. I felt like I was watching Van vs Cal in last years playoffs. It's a 2 on 2 but go ahed and let em have the blueline and then all the room they want to shoot. Terrible defense. The Czechs did the exact opposite by always challenging the Canadian forwards and look at the result.

The Canadian team had an uphill battle but ran out of gas. Not that it was the reason for the Canuck loss...but the reffing was a roadblock. I wasn't overly impressed with the one-sided officiating.
When Smyth ends his hockey career he might fair well in forestry chopping trees down! *L*

Like when the Czech player grabbed the puck, took 3 strides, and then threw the puck over the glass without a penalty call. That was a good one.
I am peeved but the best team won.

Thats too bad, but honestly..no big surprise.
Canada has played average at best, and to get as far as they did..was goodluck
Luck can only last so long.
The Czech team had played all season in europe, and was stacked with talent. Vokoun was sharp, and continues to rise the ranks as the next elite Czech netminder(Burke!!)
Perhaps next time the Canadians can be more game ready
To repeat my comment on HF:
Outcoached and outplayed through a good part of the tournament they were lucky to get to the gold medal game, frankly they did not deserve to be there.
I just can't believe how bad Jovanoski looked.
So now the men and women have lost the gold as have the under 18's, does this mean our dream run of the past few years is coming to an end?

I'm not trying to take anything away from the Czechs here..
But remember, these are the worlds..played every season..and usually in the background to the stanley cup
Far more important IMO are the Olympics, or even the World Cup.
The worlds are nice to win, but you have a shot once a year, so no worries. We will regain the win next year :thumb:

Remind yourself of all the young talent that didn't partake Dave. We got out-played, simple. We aslo won the World Jrs that had passed, man we're going to have to take Silver once in a while.
Congrats to the Czechs...
Nice run Canada boys...
Pretty much the same thoughts as everyone else.
Canada were too inconsistant throughout the tournament and finally got bit in the butt for it today. Too bad, but judging by Canada's effort from the defence, it was going to be tough. Today the Czechs really took advantage of that and they deserved the Gold.
Great game by Vokoun making 30 saves for the shutout.
