I was curious who the New York Rangers backup goalie would be next season? Will it be Valiquette, will Weekes come back, or will it be Chris Holt? I am guessing it will be Holt but I am not sure.
Kevin Weekes is gone.
He is UFA, so unless he wants to take a humungous paycut and be relegate to full-time backup... he's outta here. He'll try to sign on somewhere he fits as the possible #1. I would like to see him get that job. He's a good guy.
The Rangers will use up the 2 million saved on Weekes departure to wrap up Henrik to a long term deal.
Lundqvist backup? who really cares. Lundqvist is the bona fide #1 and he's young.
I'm guessing Valiquette or some other guy who cannot hope for a high salary.
I been hearing Montoya's name in a lot of trade rumors so I have my doubts he'll stay with the Rangers long enough to serve as NHL backup. Montoya to Phoenix for the 3rd overall pick in 2007 is a rumor I've seen in a few places.

I think once the gm situation in Phoenix is settled there will be some movement.

Not only is he a good guy, but a very nice guy. So polite. I had the pleasure of having him stay at the hotel I work at for 7 days during the lockout.

I am not sure Weekes would find starting work elsewhere, but I suppose it is possible. There are definitely 5 or 6 teams that would consider picking up a new starter, but I am not sure if he is it after riding the pine with the Rangers for a couple years or not. Hopefully he does, it would be nice to see.
