Marty just is not Marty in this series. He's made some great saves, but there have been a couple of uncharacteristic soft goals that have gone in on him that have deflated the team. When Marty is on his game, I think the rest of the team feeds off of it, and when he's off his game the rest of the team suffers because of it. But then the entire team has been off their game of late. It's almost like a completely different team has shown up for the last 2 games.

The real problem is the Devils are hell bent (no pun intended) on putting Madden/Pandolfo out against Lecavalier all the time. Tortorella plays his star players a lot, which means the low scoring shutdown line is getting more ice time. They're getting overworked, while the offensive lines aren't playing enough. It's obvious that the Devils aren't going to shut down Tampa's star players, so they need to start thinking more offensive.

And for **** sake, give the fourth line some ice time! Why the hell do you even have them in the lineup if you're giving 2/3 of them under 4 minutes a game? Rupp, the biggest and most physical guy in the lineup is getting about 2 minutes a game. Why not put his big ass in front of Holmqvist and actually make it a challenge to see the puck?

Unless the Devils make some changes, they'll be golfing by Friday.:curse:

Thats what happens when a workload goalie gets a rest like in the last game of the season. they can lose there focus, muscles can tighten up causing injury, ruin the goalies tempo so many things. sometimes the risk is worth more then the factor your looking for. such as preventing martin prone to injury as much sense as it made when they gave him off that last game of the regular season.

just be glad mad there not playing avery and the rangers now mad martin might even be playing 2 times not himself.

not that devils lost the serries cause IMO the serries is still long from over but if your devils were to lose would you rather it be to tampa or at the cost of the rangers or even the islanders?

MArty is having some problems, but playing night after night against the Rocket Richard winner plus the 5th overall goal scorer in the league can make even the best goalie look a bit average. Whatta ya know? Apparently it has. :P

Ya i agree, but I think Brodeur will come around in game 4 and play his best hockey again.

One of the funniest posts I've read in a while.

And to answer your last question, I'd rather it be to nobody at all. So the egotistical bastard Lou Lamoriello can win a Cup as head coach, and shut all his critics up yet again.:thumb:

Brodeur played well enough last night to help get Jersey the win.
