View Full Version : Rangers VS. Thrashers
Here we go tonight is game 1.
Obviously you wanna win every game... but looking at the big picture I'll be satisfied coming home for game 3 with a 1-1 split.
LETS GO RAN-GERS
GO THRASHERS!!!
I mean...yeah this series should go right down to the wire, these two teams are so even, whoever gets the bounces will win. It's a game of inches, whoever wants it more will win, and whoever's goaltender is best will win.
Did I miss any other hockey cliches?:D

Great our first rangers playoff win in 10 years. holy freagin shiz. so what were all the rangers fans doing 10 years ago?

Why? So Jagr can try to take a shot at Gomez and injure himself again? Or so Colin White can hand Sean Avery his lunch? Or so that damn egotistical bastard Lou Lamoriello can coach his team to a sweep over the hated Rangers again?

OK good win. It's apparent that the Rangers have been in playoff mode for a while now. Very poised last night. They widthstood a physical game by Atlanta, especially in the third when they were thrown back on their heels a bit... they only took 2 minors the entire game. That is huge. They also made very few mistakes.
If they can keep playing this way they'll be very hard to beat.
And now we're guaranteed to come home with at least a 1-1 tie. :thumb:
Game 2 will be a good one. Atlanta will be trying to build on the late momentum of 3rd period game 1, and establish themselves in the series. The Rangers need to squash that and keep playing their game. Getting some early goals as they did in game 1 should hopefully deflate the Thrashers and make them press a bit.

I will take one order of the second option please.
I think this year the result of a NY/NJ series would be different. I would say Rags in 6.
That was a great game. The rangers are gonna take the series but i think that the thrashers aren't going down without a fight

highly unlikely if we meet this season will get same results as last year. if you wana call last season 4 game sweep then by all means it was. even if it was tainted with a hurt lundqvist. jagr shoulder no depth. all things away from this seasons team.
now ill say bring on the devils in the later round or rounds and ill tell you results will be different then a 4 game sweep.
And before colin white can serve avery lunch he has to catch him. but wee all know white will trip over his skates and eat his own lunch in terms of ice shavings.

Good start for the Rangers. This was the only none televised game in my region which is kind of annoying considering I thought this would be a great series to watch.
In the end my motives are selfish as IF Sens beat the Pens I don’t want to face Buffalo in the second round. Tampa, Rangers or Atlanta would be good and Devils would be second last choice.
Rangers would be a great second round match up but based on Tampa’s goaltending last night I see that’s now very unlikely
Avery is gonna take a beating the playoffs, it already started last night and it will only get worse as he agitates whoever is in ear shot.
What's beautiful (and I'm surprised more opposing teams haven't seen this yet) is that the more they fixate on "handing Avery his lunch" the more they fail to fixate on Jagr's line, and let him just own the offensive zone. We'll take that every day and twice on Sunday. Both Jagr and Nylander have shown major rejuvenation since Avery's arrival and that is no coincidence.
As for the Devils we can't even think about them right now we have the Thrashers to deal with. They played a real physical game and controlled play in the 3rd. They know they came very close to mounting a comeback, and they'll try to build on that formula for game 2.
Any way, it is impossible for the Devils and Rangers to meet in round 2. Assuming both NYR and NJD win first round...
Buffalo beats islanders:
round 2 = Rangers vs. Buffalo, Devils vs. PIT/OTT winner.
Islanders beat Buffalo (yeah right)
round 2 = Rangers vs. PIT/OTT winner, Devils vs. Islanders.
So let's not get carried away over a team we couldn't even possibly see until the CF... meaning both Buffalo and Ottawa will have been sent packing by then. Doesn't seem likely at this time. ;)

The Rags handed out a sh*t kicking last night. Hahaha I have Nylander in a pool. GO Rags!
Yes the Ranges sure did. It doesn't even look like the Thrashers want to even move onto the next round. I think they are just happy to of made the playoffs.
Fo-Shizzle!

Wow, this one ended before it even got started. I guess that Keith Tkachuk deal didn't really pay off, maybe the Thrashers should've looked into a player with;
A. Legitimate playoff experience
B. The ability to play a shift of 35 seconds or more without the trainer calling for the oxygen mask.(Cause he's out of shape... get it?)

they gave up alot to get swept. there top 2 prospects one of them also with the rangers wolfpack now. a 1st 2nd and 3rd rounder.
waddell wont be GM much longer. thats for sure.
OH by the way the long wait for a playoff serries win was worth the long pain and suffering for so many years. i just love how this team jelled together and avery who can say anything bad now. and the future thats coming up. wooooooooooo is all i can say.
12 more wins baby. then im going to biggest party.

WTG RAGS!
is it me or did this sweep seem to go by very very fast?

The last 2 games in NY were back to back nights. I notice there seems to be a lot of series playing back to back nights. It didn't use to be like this. Series always went every other night or sometimes there would be 2 nights off between games, but no back to back.
The Rangers-Thrashers played Thursday night then Saturday afternoon in Atlanta. Then Tuesday night and Wednesday night in NY. Why? I dunno.
The Pens and Sens played on Saturday and Sunday

because the topic was already being discussed in another thread, In my opinion as a moderator it did not require a seperate thread.

I am surprised that the Rangers won so easily. I expected a much closer series. Last season I expected they would not lose as easily as they did in the first round, and this season they win more easily then I expected in the first round.
Ya i was expecting the series to go 6 games, but New York showed and Atlanta didn't.

Last year we could of beat the devils but the rangers had a hurt lundqvist, jagr popped his shoulder out, kasper was hurting. as among few others were.
the rangers didnt have the depth to overcome this.
This season we do. we have scratches now that should be playing and players down on the farm very deserving to be up here now also.
its great to be a rangers fan these days.
