if we make it... first round preference?

If we make the playoffs, it looks for sure like we'll land somewhere between 6-8. Which means we'll be facing one of the 3 division winners.

With that in mind who would you like to face in the first round?

There are approximately 6 possibilites right now...

NE - Buffalo or Ottawa
AT - Jersey or Pitt
SE - Atlanta or Tampa

For me, it's a no-brainer... I would prefer Atlanta, I think they'd be easiest to knock off.

Pittsburgh would be a good series I think. Fairly even matchup. I'd have confidence against them or either SE team.

From the others I would prefer New Jersey. The series are always intense and hopefully we stay healty this year. The only teams I would like to avoid in round 1 are Buff and Ott.

I'd count Ottawa out since catching Buffalo at this point is very unlikley
Otherwise I'd say Atl and Tampa are the best bets and if I were a NYR fan I'd want tampa as their goaltending and D is suspect and all you need to do is shut down one line

Yes but were ahead of tampa in the standings.

I want the Devils again. this years rangers teams has depth. there defense and goaltending has been surpurb since the break. the scoring is down but there game plan has changed. there playing alot like the devils were before slumping some but not as boring. plus avery would sure to be in martins face alot and im not sure how much of this he can take. just imagine avery asking martin how his sister in law is doing. i can just see it now it would be a crunching match up for sure.

im confident as long as the rangers stay healthy they can beat those jersey swamp turds or devils as we call them. :thumb:

Tampa can still grab the 3 seed being 2 points behind Atlanta with 2 weeks remaining.

I would welcome a re-match against the Devils for sure - but if I had a choice in the first round, I'd prefer either Atlanta or Tampa. Whoever grabs that 6th seed will have the easiset first round matchup.

Yah but you're not in the southeast division and both Tampa and Atlanta are. Tampa is only 2 points behind Atlanta and could easily win the southeast. If they do they automatically get a top three seed.

I think Atlanta would be the one you would want to face. Although Atlanta does have better goaltending, Tampa's Big Three (Four if you count Boyle) and the overall team's playoff experience would make Tampa the tougher match.
But who really knows. Lehtonen could get hot and if Kovalchuk and Hossa go on a tear the Thrashers could surprise.
