Bragging rights on the line with Iced Tea... :D

With their 2-1 triple overtime win in Salmon Arm last night, the Vees took a 3-0 series lead over the Siverbacks. The Vees took the first two games in Penticton with 6-2 and 3-1 wins. Game 4 goes tonight and yours truly might just make an appearance at that game. :thumb:

Go Vees Go!

I might even buy you an Iced Tea if I see you there Craig!

For those who don't follow the BCHL, it's aguably the best junior "A" league in Canada. Many great NHL'ers played in that league before heading to US Colleges. Penticton has had its share of players wearing thier colours, as guys like Ray Ferraro, Brett Hull, Brendan Morrison, Paul Kariya, Chuck Kobasew and Duncan Keith all played in this small town.

One current roster player to keep an eye on at the entry draft is Vees' #9, Evan Trupp.

Frankly this was not a great season for Salmon Arm with the GM/coach stepping away from coaching duties and allowing his son/defense coach to take the helm. The players have little respect for the son and the GM had to resume coaching or else the team wouldn't have made the playoffs.

The Silverbacks barely escaped the first round and now they are in tough against the top Interior team and down 3 - 0 in the series. Things aren't looking too good and I expect the Vees to win the series in four straight.

The Silverbacks have only been in existence since the 01/02 season and there is already a Silverback in the NHL. New Jersey Devils forward, Travis Zajac played here.

I was at the game last night and I didn't see you...

The Vees took the game 2-1 on a very sloppy affair. The long overtime the night before took its toll on both teams and they were falling all over the ice. Salmon Arm had just finished playing 7 games in 10 days before this series and they were banged up.

Now the Vees are awaiting the winner of the Trail vs Vernon series, with the Vernon Vipers leading that series 3-1.

On a side note, only 987 fans at the game last night. Disappointing for a second round playoffs game. They only had 923 or something like that the game before.

There is a Zajak playing for the Silverbacks. Is he related to Travis?

Is it spelled with a C or a K at the end? The only other Zajac that I know of is Travis' brother Darcy who plays for UND right now...

Thanks for Zajac by the way, he's already one of my favorite Devils. This kid is going to be very good someday, maybe not in pure offensive stats, but he's a perfect fit for the Devils and will only get better with experience. 16 goals, 36 points, and a +4 in 71 games isn't bad at all for a guy who went to the NHL directy from college.:thumb:

Travis, Darcy and currently Silverback Kelly are all brothers and I think I heard there is a fourth brother.

Who do they think they are, the Staal family?

I figure at least one of them is destined to be signed by the Devils someday, just to keep up the recent tradition of signing the younger brother of a Devils player. The pattern seems to be to draft the older brother (Zach Parise, Brian Gionta, Jay Pandolfo) and then sign the younger brother (Jordan Parise, Stephen Gionta, Mike Pandolfo)...
