Yup, straight from the NHL complaint department...

Stars president 'sick' of Predators' overall attitude

Stars president Jim Lites couldn't believe the lack of acknowledgement by the Nashville Predators when Dallas forward Mike Modano tied and then broke the record for goals scored by an American-born player Saturday, according to a published report.

"Their owner, management, public relations people, coaching staff -- I think they all failed the game," Lites told the Dallas Morning News. "It's because of people like Mike Modano that they even have a team in Nashville. He has helped pioneer the game in the South, and for him to be treated like that in a milestone moment ... it's just a horrible thing."

Lites' disdain for the Nashville organization wasn't just limited to the events surrounding Modano's record.

"I understand it's a competitive situation, but we're also working together to sell the game," Lites told the paper. "They get more money from revenue sharing than any team in the league, they voted against the new schedule because they wanted to have an easier schedule for themselves. They take and take and take and take and never give back, and I'm sick of it."

Modano's two goals Saturday gave him 503 for his career, breaking Joe Mullen's record. Modano's accomplishment was never mentioned over the PA system at Nashville Arena.

Since when does a team stop a home game to honor an opposing player? Does anyone outside the Mike Modano fan club really think his 503rd goal is a monumentous occasion?

all I can say is

You'd think that the Stars would instead be sending in a complaint about Tootoo's punch to Robidas' head.

As for acknowledgement, the Stars can do something at their next home game. As a fan of the Canucks, I wouldn't be too thrilled if the Canucks stopped a game to acknowledge the accomplishment of an opposing player.

Honestly, cry me a river buddy.

This isn't baseball where everytime someone does something to break a record they have a 40 minute delay and the commisioner comes out and awards the guy a plaque and a car. How many hockey games have ever been stopped to celebrate an individual acheivement? I cannot honestly think of any, and I mean so what 503 goals, just because he's American doesn't mean that the game needs to pause to award his acheivement, I mean based on that logic the game needs to stop for Swedes, Finns, Czechs, Russians and not just the American players.

And this comment here: "It's because of people like Mike Modano that they even have a team in Nashville. He has helped pioneer the game in the South, and for him to be treated like that in a milestone moment ... it's just a horrible thing."

Does this guy realize how freaking lucky Dallas is to having a team?

I saw the headline I thought it was about the Tootoo hit as well. How the heck were Nashville to know if Modana was going to hit that milestone in that game on that night. NHL teams rarely acknowledge milestoens except by thier own players in thier own building.

The Preds never sell out their building, they need to relocate to a true hockey market.

The Preds voted against changing the schedule because they like having 8 games each against the BJs, Blues and Blackhawks. Who cares about quality hockey when the Preds can get an easy two points in the majority of the 24 games. Preds are 20-7-2 against their division rivals, 17 of those wins were against the three weak teams. 34 easy points, it's no wonder they sit atop the standings.
