Anybody else join the new craze that is Texas Holdem? I've been playing now for about 6 months and am starting to get good. I'm hauling down a few pots every now and then, 50 or 60 bucks each. Anybody else play? I play online sometimes, I use Poker Stars.

I started with a casual game with some family in Alberta, back in October. Since then every so often (couple times a month) I'll get together with some buddies and we'll have a few games - not for much money though. I've been playing sometimes at Score Poker (www.scorepoker.com). It's quick, easy and free to use. I haven't really been interested in watching it on TV. Yet. :)

I'm on Poker Stars as well.. but I don't play too often, I hate playing for play money... so ;).

Can be pretty fun though.

I don't play cards. Cards isn't an activity that ever held any interest for me...poker, whist, fish, war, canasta, crazy-8's...you name it. I will play crib - that's about it. As far as gambling goes...it has never held an interest for me either. I've never been to Vegas and have no desire to go...not even for the other stuff (non-gambling) Vegas has to offer.

In my lifetime I've probably sunk less than $100.00 in the VLTs.

Yeah, I know I'm in the minority.

I actually got hooked on poker alomst two years ago, I dont play as often as I use to... but we tend to mix it up a bit to, we dont just play hold em. My brother and his school are in a hold em craze, they're in highschool and you probably see 200+ dollars gained and loss on any given day per person. Its pretty intense for 16 year olds. Alot of my friends really got into it and started playing the last 6 months or so.

I love watching poker on TV, theres nothing more intresting you get so into it. They where palying the world series from 2003 (I think) on TV just this past weekend, thats some crazy poker.

I've been playing poker weekly with some of my friends for the past few months. I've also played on PartyPoker.com a few times in the past few weeks. Most of the people in my family think I'm insane when I flip to the World Series Of Poker, or the Celebrity Poker Showdown on Bravo. Maybe it's because I don't have any hockey to watch right now.

Johhny, what would your name on PokerStars happen to be?

BK09 is mine.. if you're inetested in playing some time.

Yes, I do play poker. But like someone else mentioned, I never play for money, just for fun. I never make a wager with money on anything wether it be cards or a bet. Don't want to risk it. But poker is fun, especially when lady luck is smiling upon you. I have been playing for a few years now, and I'm not too bad at it.

The entire poker craze could die anytime, and that would make me pretty happy. It just doesn't do it for me in the least, and it never did. Cards in general never have, actually. Now it's to the point that when you turn on the tv, there's a good chance poker will be on it somewhere. If you walk through the mall, there's a poker kiosk set-up, selling chips, etc. There's commercials for poker rooms, about 5 poker million sites, and tons of Texas Hold 'Em Analyzer software packages being sold. Argh! ;)

Maybe it's just me; I don't play the lottery, I've placed one single dollar into a slot machine, I sure as hell wouldn't play a rigged up game like Sport Select. I just don't see the societal value in gambling. It's one thing for adults to do it, but it does bother me that kids are doing it so much.

I used to play poker every week.
But, now that I'm married, with a kid . . .I get out once every 6-8 months.
It's a good time with the guys, have a few beers, some laughs.
If you've had a bad night, you might lose $30 - $40.
I'm sure some of you guys go out and drop that much at the pub quite regularily.

This week, I'm in a Texas Hold-em tournie.
$20 gets you in.
$120 for 1st place, $40 for 2nd place.

Overall, in my life, I'm right around break-even.

My late husband (God rest his soul) played poker for the house at several casino's in Central City & Blackhawk....He was very good so they tell me...The house got to keep all his winnings though....

It was Newfie John but I've uninstalled Poker Stars. I found it slowed the computer down quite a bit. I got rid of all the pesky little components that stay behind too. My computer is much faster because of it.

I'm the same way Slap Nuts. I have yet to spend a dollar on any lottery. Gambling just doesn't tickle me the way other forms of entertainment can.

There was this story on Tv the other day, where this lady placed a quater into the slot machine and won 2.2 million dollars.

God payoff.

So, if I were to put a million quarters into the machine, I would win $550,000,000,000.
