Senators' Spezza hopes to play Thursday

Despite missing practice on Wednesday, Jason Spezza says he is hopeful to play in Thursday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Spezza, who did not play in Tuesday's shootout loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins with a back injury, stayed off the ice Wednesday and continued treatment on his back.
Spezza says the injury is not related to the back surgery he had in the summer. The injury occurred while he was trying to get out of his car. Currently riding an 11-game point streak, Spezza already missed 14 games earlier this season with a knee injury. In 52 games this season, Spezza has 27 goals and 40 assists.
