Going to Philly.
Upshall, Parent, 1st, + 3rd
Nashville is ultra scary now.
Sportsnet.ca -- For the second time in his career, Peter Forsberg has been traded by Philadelphia. The Flyers have agreed to send the veteran centre to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Ryan Parent, Scottie Upshall and a pair of draft picks.
Forsberg was on the ice for warm-up ahead of Philadelphia's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs Thursday, but was a last-minute healthy scratch.
A former Hart Trophy winner, the Swedish centre has three goals and eight assists in his last seven games but also has been the subject of trade rumours as the Feb. 27 deadline approaches. He met with Flyers chairman Ed Snider on Sunday, but wouldn't discuss the meeting.
"It's not like I wanted to leave. It's not like I wanted out of here," Forsberg said after his weekend meeting with Snider. "I like it here. It's not been my intention to leave, no."
Forsberg will be a free agent at the end of this season and had said all along he didn't want to address his future until he solved the lingering issues with his right foot. Forsberg has visited with several doctors to find out why his foot hasn't felt right in his skate, the health issue mostly responsible for keeping him out 16 games this season.
"I've said I wanted to stay and I wanted to get my foot fixed and then I'll think about my future," he said. "That's all I've said all along. I didn't know because my foot didn't feel good enough and I didn't know how long I was going to play."
But since Forsberg returned from an all-star break trip to visit a specialist in Sweden, he's playing like his old self. He has three goals and nine assists in nine games since the break and 40 points in 40 games overall this season, showing his foot may at last be stable to help the Predators in a playoff run.
