Emery suspended for 3 games. Personally I think it bull $$hit compared to some of the stuff the league has turned it’s head on this year but he did do wrong. The fact that they used a goaltender that was simply protecting his space as an example is ridiculous. The league refuses to protect goalies yet suspend one with one of the longest suspensions of the year.

He should have hit him harder. Hockey is a violent sport and that's what happens when you run goalies all night. If a guy with a visor runs goalies all night and spears stars I've no problem with the goalie rattling his brains with a shot to the helmet. I'd rather it not be around the facial area (or even be minus the stick altogether and have Rayzor punch the guy instead of just trying to fight after the fact), but in the heat of the moment you don't always have time to aim respectfully.

I can see why the NHL gave him 3 games. They have to set a standard, even if 3 is a bit much and they've given other players nothing for less. At the end of the day Emery turned his stick into a weapon. I'm actually okay with goalies doing that as long as they are provoked. Smith, Hextall, and Belfour were all great goalies and their intimidation made them even better. But unprovked, viscious slashes like Eddie gave out just for standing in the crease were too much. Still, rules are rules and Rayzor will sit for three.

Time for Gerber to step up. He's been much better recently and now is his chance. I would have played him against Florida anyway. Maybe even against Edmonton so it's not a huge loss.
