Great, now they have an even more annoying fourth line with Avery and Ryan Hollweg. Looks like Cam Janssen may be back in the lineup for the next Devils/Rangers game.:)

Please somebody shoot me. seriously.
Well I hated Barnaby and Samuelson but they won me over when they joined the Rangers.
Maybe Avery will do the same, I have my doubts. I friggin hate this guy.
But I'll admit this Ranger team needs attitude. Maybe Avery (gag) will give them the fire in the belly they have been lacking to become a team with swagger.
No doubt Shanny will bail him out if needed.
I have mixed feelings... reserving judgement until I see how it pans out.

Glad the Rangers got him. I wasn't liking the idea of him as a Leaf.
Dude has 28 points, 1 PP, 1 SH and 2 GW goals. Whats the problem?? He will take opposing players minds off of Jagr and company. This move is a direct response to what Shannahan was talking about last week.
Sure the guy is a jerk, so what, he hasn't said or done anything crazy in a while. Give him a chance, he might surprise you. BTW I hope I'm wrong ;)

You're right. After sleeping on it, I think it's a good move.
Let me explain my knee jerk reaction. I just hated Avery plain and simple. There are some guys you can't stand to play against but you love to have them on your team: Darcy Tucker, Matt Barnaby, Ulf Samuelson etc. But to me, Avery never fell into that category because even his own teammates started to dislike his big mouth.
But moving to the East Conference for a fresh start, I'm hoping he tones down the controversial quotes a little bit and focuses on winning games. As you said, he'll be perfect for distracting the other team from Jagr, he'll draw (and take) penalties, and the numbers he's putting up this season are proof that he brings more than his mouth to the game.
You are 100% right Amo. I will definitely give it a fair chance... and I have a funny feeling the Garden faithful might just wind up embracing Avery. They like his type of player. This team has not had that since Barnaby was here. Hollweg tries but he's a borderline NHL'er right now, and not much of a brawler.
At very least it should be entertaining :)
Rangers visit rival Devils tonight. Hopefully Avery will make a good first impression.
edit: also forgot 2 other factors.
1) they got him for next to nothing
2) He's UFA in the summer so both sides can decide if it worked out for the best and keep him signed on Broadway, or part ways.

I think Avery and a certain player who wears #25 for the Devils may end up getting acquainted with each other tonight.:)
Avery is an improvement over Ward for no other reason than he is an annoying ass. I know the guys on VS mentioned that Avery has drawn the most penalties of any player in the league. As much as many people hate players like Avery, he is effective at his role. Whether or not that role turns around what appears to be a sinking ship is another matter entirely.

:rollover: true about the annoying ass bit... but he's way more valuable than Ward for other reasons. Ward was useless pretty much.

Your're right it is a sinking ship. Hopefully Avery can breathe some life into this and bring another whole dimension to the team, because frankly they are looking as bad or worse than last season these days. Still a one line team except Jagr is not 100%. Shanny has nobody really to feed him the puck effectively.
If I'm Renney, this is how I start it out tonight.
Hi Sean, meet Jaromir... he's really important to our team, in fact let's face it... he IS our team. If he gets bothered, we have a hard time winning games.
Now then, see that guy number 20? That's Jay Pandolfo. He bothers the crap out of Jaromir here every time we play this team. We don't like it when people bother Jaromir....... do we Seeeaaaan?????????
then sit back and let the fireworks begin.
I'm hoping for some any way.

Taking out Pandolfo is only half the equation though, you still have to deal with that annoying assed guy named Madden, and a certain guy who wears #30 in goal.
Too bad I have to work tonight.:curse:
