This has just become a final.

Got home in time to watch the third period.

Not the best effort for the Red Leaves, but it's two points nonetheless.

Rick Nash scored his tournament leading ninth goal, to win the game.

Canada can now not finish lower than second in their group.

Might want to put this as a spoiler JR since TSN is playing the game at 11:30 EST tonight

And no knee-on-knee hits were thrown by the Ukes....
Who knew that Ukraine was a dirty team? *lol*

I saw most of the game, despite missing the 3rd period

The line of Doan-Mo-Heatley looked dangerous all game, and should break out soon.

Jovo looked more improved, as did Souray..which is good to see for Canada

Brodeur must improve if Canada wants gold

Who is this goalie for Ukraine. Where the heck did he come from. Leads his team to a 1-1 tie with the Americans and JUSSST barely loses to Canada 2-1. Does any NHL team have his rights?

His name is Konstantin Simchuk. Here's what I found on him. There are no mentions of him even being drafted.

I was really impressed with his positional play. If it hadn't been for Nash's goal being a knuckler I'm certain that he could've got his glove on that second goal. Simchuk was incredible.

At 31 years old I don't think he will ever be in the NHL. for what it is worth his save % in the minors hasn't been that good...pretty much around the high .800's.

I couldn't find anything in russianprospects.com except for this little blurb....

03/03/20052005 Super League Regular Season and Playoffs (Russia) (http://www.russianprospects.com/public/tournament.php?tour_id=2005011)
Evgeny Nabokov (San Jose Sharks) has successfully completed physical therapy in the United States and has returned to Russia to rejoin Metallurg (Magnitogorsk). Metallurg has struggled with Malkov between the pipes after Nabokov?s injury. As a result, the club acquired Konstantin Simchuk, who has been a lot more effective. Simchuk will likely be Nabokov?s backup, with Malkov becoming either the third string goalie, or be released all together, as the club already has Anton Khudobin (Minnesota Wild) holding steady in that position.
