Murray: Vermette injury not serious
January 01, 2007
Sportsnet.ca -- The injury to Ottawa Senators centre Antoine Vermette does not appear to be too serious, according to head coach Bryan Murray.
Vermette went for an MRI on his injured hip and the news seems to be fairly encouraging. The team will re-evaluate Vermette in the next 48 hours and the head coach has not yet ruled him out of playing on Wednesday against Buffalo.
Vermette did not play in Ottawa's 3-2 overtime loss to Atlanta on Monday afternoon after suffering the hip injury on Saturday night in Toronto.
There was some fear that if Vermette was lost for an extended period of time, the Senators would be without their top three centres.
Ottawa is currently missing two other key centremen -- Jason Spezza and Mike Fisher, who are nursing knee injuries.
