SAN JOSE - The NHL lifted its holiday roster freeze on Wednesday, and according to multiple sources the Coyotes have been getting inquiries from other teams about impending unrestricted free agents Ladislav Nagy, Mike Comrie and Shane Doan.

No deals are imminent, but by virtue of their weak offensive numbers, those three players have given the Coyotes no choice but to consider all offers.

The trio, which combined for 75 goals in 2005-06, has combined to score just 17 through 35 games this season. More alarming, the players have scored just six power-play goals combined.

The Coyotes might be willing to part with one, two or all three forwards considering there are several younger forwards waiting in the wings: Bill Thomas and Yanick Lehoux in the American Hockey League and, down the road more, prospects Peter Mueller and Martin Hanzal.

Also, Phoenix soon will have a surplus of defensemen once Ed Jovanovski and Nick Boynton return from injury.

That, too, should generate deal-seeking phone calls from other teams.

Doan and Nagy for Rory Fitzpatrick?

Seriously, the Canucks should trade Naslund for Nagy and Doan.:D

No, now I'm serious.

Vest has some good points. It is time for the Coyotes to rebuild and trading away overpaid under performing players is the way to get youth in return. I say build for the future because the Coyotes sure aren't going to make the playoffs this season or any season soon with their current roster. But will Gretzky and company be able to get much value out of the three considering their lousy years so far? Will anyone give up what the Coyotes want for any of the three now that Clarke isn't Flyers GM anymore?

I wouldn't mind Nagy or Doan in a Canucks jersey but I don't know who Tubby would give up.

Also, the Coyotes should release Roenick and end that distraction. Who knows what Roenick is doing to team unity.

Actually, that whole team is a distraction. Gretz should move it to Winnipeg and then re-build. :D

Canucks shopping Morrison
TheFourthPeriod.com

As the Vancouver Canucks continue to find ways to score and remain atop the Northwest Division, they are scouring the market an offensive-minded threat.

According to multiple sources, TFP has learned that the Canucks continue to use center Brendan Morrison as bait in hopes of landed a scoring forward.

Morrison, 31, has struggled this year, notching only nine goals and 10 assists in 38 games with the Canucks.

It's believed the Canucks would be willing to package Morrison in a deal if they can get their hands on a forward, preparbly a center, who can put the puck in the net.

The Canucks are supposedly interested in one of the Phoenix Coyotes' big three (Shane Doan, Ladislav Nagy and Mike Comrie), while St. Louis' Petr Cajanek and Bill Guerin have also popped up in recent trade rumors.

If Canucks GM Dave Nonis decides to pull the trigger on any trade, he'll have to take the salary cap into consideration. Vancouver has roughly $2 million in available cap space. http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/van061229.html

Not exactly a top source for info but even a shred of truth to this means that Dave "Sure I'll have fries with that" Nonis is doing something to improve the streaky Canucks. But Dave "Salad? What's a salad?" Nonis better not package and trade away any of the great young defensemen the Canucks have.
