WASHINGTON - Federal scientists have concluded there is no difference between food from cloned animals and food from conventional livestock, setting the stage for the government to declare Thursday that cloned animals are safe for the human food supply.

Some people may think of this as a step further down the slippery slope towards cloning humans. I wouldn't be surprised if there is outrage from conservative groups and increased pressure on Bush to stop any cloning whatsoever in the US.

I personally don't see the big deal with this. I know it could be looked on as opening a door into human cloning, but I think cloning livestock for humans to consume is a bit different than cloning an entire human, unless they're being fed to cannibals I guess. It does look like we're getting closer to being able to clone a human though, I think it'll only be a matter of time. The moral issues of that whole thing are another matter entirely.
