Sources tell TSN veteran centre Yanic Perreault is close to agreeing to a one year deal with the Phoenix Coyotes.
Perreault, believed to be fully recovered from abdominal surgery, previously turned down contract gestures from both Chicago and the New York Islanders.

The Ottawa Senators, Calgary Flames and Tampa Bay Lightning also showed interest

I guess money is more important then winning? He should have Signed with the Flames or the Sens if he wants to win a cup.

Phoenix strike me as too old and too slow, I am not sure Perrault is going to change much there. As for him signing with the Flames they are a Kipper groin pull away from mediocrity themselves. Just my opinion yada yada yada..

Alright Phoenix is getting Yanic Perreault! As opposed to the Joel Perrault they already have. Surely they will make the playoffs now.

They Yote's are following the Punch Imlach success plan. Get old past their prime former stars and see if they can find 75% of their former selves and become a winner. Didn't work for the Leafs the last 10yrs when they had a basically unlimited budget, and I don't see how that fomula improved with the introduction of the salary cap. The good news is most of these old timers are only signed for 1 year.

The amount of talent Phoenix has in it's system is sick. Forwards, defense, they have blue chippers at both. Why they would want to stunt the youth of their organization for the sake of some washed up can't-make-it-in-the-New-NHLers is a question only Gretz and Co can answer.

Phoenix has the talent to be a good team but the coaching is the problem, its horrible!

Yanic has a home in Phoenix so thats why he signed with them.Ottawa would have been a better choice but there's no place like home.
