Just because it needs to be acknowledged, I am posting this. Never been an Av's fan but it is hard to ignore the achievements of a class act like Burnaby Joe.

Sakic is a standup guy.
I'll never forget him selflessly passing the Stanley cup to Ray Borque in favor of hoisting it himself.

Yes, he is the face of the franchise, his family has put doen roots in Denver. He is an effective mentor and teacher to some of the young offensive guns in the Lanche line up like Stasny and Wolski. The problem in Denver was the former GM LaCroix got sentimental with a French-Canadian dmen( Briesbois) and goalie (Theodre) who ate up big cap space and generated little return in on ice production. Ray Bourque and Patrick Roy they aren't.
too bad hes not playing in the playoffs this year
