I know that there are no longer Av's fans here (right Sue);) but I found this interesting. As a Canuck fan I have some animated discusssiions with Av's fans on other boards and they always point to their string of sell outs as evidence of their rapid die hard nature as hcokey fans. I had always wondered if Denver had been a true expansion team and not a relocated up and coming Nordiques team with a new deep pockets owner would the support have been there? Now with the Av's rebuilding be it with some potentially impressive talent many of the stars are gone and they aren't a dominating team any more the streak has ended. Could this be a sign of things to come. There have been some low attendance figures posted in soem markets this season already?

so far 13 teams have sold out all their home games (mainly the larger markets and/or teams that have had relatively recent success)

If you'd have told me 10-15 years ago that St. Louis and Chicago would be drawing less than 2/3 capacity I would have laughed.

Look at them now.

I have yet to figure out how any team can sell out more than 100% capacity. It makes no sense.

Are they printing up and selling tickets to seats that don't exist?

Don't believe everything you read on the 'net (that espn chart).

Thus far, the Oil have played 3 home dates. The capacity at Rexall Place is 18,839 bums in the seats and they have sold out all 3 games they've played at home....YET, espn have the Oil down @ 98.5% capacity for their home crowd.

Go figure.

NHL attendance (at least in the states) is always lowest in October I think.

You have MLB playoffs, and both college and NFL football going on.

Compare that to later in the season when the only other sport going on is basketball. I think hockey gets more attention then.

What is going on this year?

The Braves' 14-year streak of division titles ends.
The Blues' 25-year streak of making the playoffs ends.
The Eskimos' 34-year streak of making the playoffs ends.

Now the Avs sellout streak ends.
