What a Saturday for New York baseball.

The Yanks are finished in four and the Mets sweep.

So look who's now the toast of the town.

Torre is staying on as reported today on MLB.com.

It's not his fault they didn't score enough runs to support their shaky pitching staff. Players need to perform on the field, not Torre.

If Piniella (as was rumored) replaced Torre, I would seriously have to reconsider my affiliation to the Yankees. Torre is a gentleman and a class act all the way. Piniella is a jerk.

I like the Yankees because of guys like Jeter, Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada and Mariano Rivera. They respect the game and never showboat. Wish I could say as much for A-Rod.

Like all of New York, I can no longer stand A-Rod and would like to see him gone at the earliest convenience no matter what comes back in return. His season wasn't as bad as it was made out to be... but it was well below his standards.

More importantly, for the 2nd straight year, he tanked in the playoffs. I have grown to hate him, that's all I can say... Not all his fault this 2nd straight first round exit of course... but I think the Yankees best move would be to move A-Rod for some quality pitching (if possible).

I also think they should pick up Sheff's option and then trade him out west for some pitching.

I hate the Yankees with a passion but I'm glad Joe Torre is staying. I admit liking the guy... he a great manager. I was watching the As and Tigers game tonight and Piniella was a color commentator and was saying how glad he was to hear that Torre was staying put and that he never received any offer to manager the Yanks, he was pretty much blasting at the media.

I wonder how long this era will last, as long as the previous Mets Dynasties,
namely the early 60's, 1969, 1973, 1986,2000...thier longest run of being the favourite was when they were the worst team in baseball.

Kinda funny that for a new era, I'm still only hearing about the Yankees. The Mets could win the World Series this year and they still won't be bigger than the Yankees. It's just the way it is.

This, like the Hurricanes not facing Dwayne Roloson, will always have a big, fat asterisk beside it for not facing Pedro Martinez.

Enjoy being swept Fairweather City, MO.

Now you just need the Broncos to go to the Super Bowl this year, and lose with Jake "The Mistake" Plummer out of the lineup to complete the Trifecta Of Excuses For Failure. :D

Mets manager Willie Randolph said. "I don't look at who was 0-for-whatever or 10-for-20. We're not going to look back and worry about guys who were hurt (Pedro Martinez, Orlando Hernandez, Cliff Flloyd). All teams go though injuries. We don't make excuses."

What can I say? I hate the Cardinals.

Fortunately though, they're the San Jose Sharks of baseball.
