Which 3 QBs from the AFC and NFC do you think will end up being picked for the Pro Bowl this year when all is said and done, assuming no injuries of course.

Manning, Brady, and Palmer
McNabb, Manning, and Favre if he somehow keeps up what he's doing.

Well the way I see it there are almost a lack of contenders this year to even reach the Pro Bowl as a QB.
In the AFC Manning, Palmer, and Brady are the only 3 real candidates with Green injured, Roethlisburger starting the year behind(although he isnt a big numbers guy anyway), and Brees moved to the NFC(and looking much more ordinary around a much different O so far). Even if one of those 3 has a not so strong year, and for the record I am predicting Brady to have a not so strong year for his standards, there still arent any other serious candidates.
In the NFC I couldnt imagine it not being McNabb and Hasselback as 2 of the QBs. I dont know who the 3rd one would be. Manning is so erratic, he could fall apart for weeks on end. Bulger might or might not have a good year for him. The aging Favre I doubt keeping up all year behind a soft O line. I hope to god that Grossman does not make the Pro Bowl, I highly doubt it, but that would drive me nuts.

Well, I figure Manning only has to have semi-Pro Bowl numbers to make it. The hype around him alone will allow him to be elected, just like Mike Vick. I forgot about Hasselbeck actually, so if Favre falls off, which will probably happen, Hasselbeck or the incredibly overrated Mike Vick will take his spot.

I agree Eli Manning would have to do less then the others to make it in. I also agree with you that Mike Vick is extremely overrated, I felt that way since he came into the league but dare to speak it and boy you get a lashing sometimes.

BTW I actually bet $100 with a nutty Grossman fanatic on the Bears forum that Rex would not make the Pro Bowl this year so hearing you say he has no shot to make it gives me some relief even it is one other opinion only. LOL!
If one of Tom, Carson, or Peyton dont make it in the AFC who would be the most likely to make it instead do you think?

If one of those 3 QBs don't make it from the AFC, my next guess would be maybe Plummer. I think someone will emrge later as the season goes on, but right now excluding injuy as a factor, those three guys will be in the Pro Bowl no doubt about it.

Amazingly enough if they picked the Pro Bowl from the AFC Pennington would probably be one of the 3. I dont expect that to last throughout the year though, still very early.

One person on a Bears forum says she thinks in the hypothetical situation that Grossman and Manning ended the year with the same stats Grossman would get voted in instead. This is what she said:
If Rex's overall numbers were identical to Eli, I'd expect Rex to get the nod easily; in fact if they are slightly below he probably still gets the nod. Considering that the Bears may have the best record in the NFC to boot, Rex would defintaely get the nod in scenario it was close. Lets remember one thing, the Bears are one of the most well known franchises in the NFL and historically are one of the greatest as well. In fact, I'd say we are a far more storied franchise than either of the one's in New York. Hell, I can only say the Packers are potentially more storied than the Bears. That would mean far more in terms of nationwide popularity then the brother related popularity of Eli.
I think she is crazy, she is the one I made the $100 bet with though.

I also find it funny so many people think Pennington will get in. He did start the year well though. I am very surprised how well he is playing.

AFC: Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer, Tom Brady
NFF: Donovon McNabb, Rex Grossman, any 1 out of 4 of Hasselback, Brees, Favre, Manning, or Vick

1 out of 5? ;)
Vick probably gets it, despite the fact LT would be a more effective QB.

No chance in hell Grossman gets into the Pro Bowl. Sorry.

Don't be so sure about that anymore. 6th in the league in yards, 100+ QB rating, and 2nd in TDs to McNabb. If he keeps this up, make no doubt about it, he will be in the Pro Bowl.

Remember though you brought up a good point earlier about the popularity of Eli Manning and Michael Vick, them not having to do as much as others to make it in. Also others like McNabb(although he will warrant making it barring a shocking fall off), Hasselback, and Brees are all more experienced and bigger "names" then Rex Grossman is, although if Hasselback and Brees dont pick up their stats big time it wont matter anyway.

A name will only take you so far. While the other guys won't have to do as much to get in doesn't mean that if the pace for all the QBs continues that Grossman won't be in. He may not have the name, but he will have the far superior stats and be on one of the best teams in the league, possibly the one with the NFC home field advantage.

Well Manning is on a very slightly better TD rate right now then Grossman, but much worse in other areas. Last year he had 24 TDs and didnt get in, probably because of his other stats not being that good. Since the fans vote I am not sure if fans like to look at only TDs are most look at all the different areas, I mean more the casual fan then the knowledgable one. There was alot of controversy over Vick's inclusion last year, and his stats this year probably are going to be even worse then last years in some ways, and last year was a weaker year for NFC Qbs with some injuries(eg-McNabb).

Fan voting only accounts for a third of the Pro-Bowl voting. If Grossman continues to tear it up for a Chicago team that should win at least 14 games he'll get the coaches and player votes to play in February.

If Grossman makes the Pro Bowl and the Bears win the Super Bowl they will probably sign him to a 3, 4, or 5-year contract extension in the off season. They wont wait until next year just in case he tests the free agent market more then(his contract runs out after next season). It will probably be with alot of performance and games played incentives instead of all gauranteed money because of his injury risk history though. They will keep Griese for 1 more year just to be sure of Rex's stability, then trade or cut him. By then Orton will probably be a capable backup even though his contract runs out after 2008-09.

After tonights almost historicaly awful performance of 4 INTs and 0 TDs I gaurantee Rex Grossman will not be going to the Pro Bowl. I know it is just one game, but that is a worse game then the worst game most horrable NFL Qbs have in their whole careers.
That is a relief, I was worried about losing my bet, I have never lost a sporting bet for money yet, and I was worried I was about to lose my first.
